This week I'm joined by Nick, known in the game dev community as Vimlark. Vimlark is a game jam veteran who participates in sever game jams every year. In 2020, Vim managed to place in the top 20 submissions during the Game Makers Toolkit Jam with his game, Make the Way . In this episode, we discuss the importance of creating a good user experience in games. We chat about one really appreciated UX element, and one that is often left out but highly sought after. Following our discussion we design a game around the theme, "What's Old is New".

This week I'm joined by the musician and composer behind the Jammers Podcast theme, Megan Carnes. Megan has been working as a musician and composer for about 10 years. Her work can be found in all sorts of media including games, film, podcasts and more. We discuss different ways of using music in games to convey the desired mood, introduce rhythm-based mechanics, and we design a game using the theme "Life is Interchangeable".

This week I'm joined by August Yadon. August is a game developer, a software engineer, and he's the creator behind the comical VR experience, Plunker. We chat about our experience with Ludum Dare 41 (Combine two incompatible game genres) - my first ever game jam, in which August and I teamed up to create Death Fog Dash. In the end, we come up with a rather unique game mechanic surrounding the theme "Transmission".

We talk about her journey as an artist, how other artists can get their start in game development, and her other experiences. In the end, we design a game around the theme "Light is Danger".

This week I'm joined by my friend Amer. I met Amer at Global Game Jam in 2020. He's a computing student at a local university and up until that GGJ he hadn't participated in a game jam before! In this episode, we talk about what it's like to enter a game jam for the first time, discuss one of many common game jam pitfalls, and we design a game around the theme: Subjective Perception.
This week I'm joined by Dan... better knows as Honest Dan of Honest Dan Games. Dan is a UK based game developer who is often found streaming his game dev process as he explores Unreal Engine. This episode we compare and contrast our experiences with Ludum Dare and Global Game Jam. We look at different approaches to game design specifically for game jams and what makes for a good game jam theme.

Instead, this week we're celebrating Brackeys Jam by designing a game based on the 2021 Brackey's Jam theme. This week we I'm joined by Munglo, a friend of mine through Twitch. Munglo focuses on educational streams, going through various aspects of game development and 3D modelling. His educational streams are paired with gameplay of games such as Devil Daggers, Apex Legends, and other high action games.
