💥Doc Miller, PhD, RN [ @docmilller ] is a Professor, Foster Youth Advocate, Writer for Black Girl Masculine [@blackgirlmasculine], Community Organizer, and Motivational Speaker.  Coming from being in and out of foster care homes for 12 years, she advocates for policy changes in the Child Welfare system.  Also, she can be seen in the commercial teaming up with LinkedIn’s “In It To Speak for Those Who Cannot” campaign.  She’s also a Guardian Scholar Mentor, a mentor program through her university. 

Last year, she partnered with Together We Rise and raised over $1400 and purchased 56 duffel bags for foster youth. This year, their goal is $3,900 and volunteers are needed to assist them on  May 7th, 2019.

She received her undergraduate from Howard University, her Masters of Science in Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from California State University, Long Beach and later obtained a PhD from UCLA.  While working on her PhD, she was 1 of 5 to receive the Minority Nurse Faculty fellowship and did her PhD Dissertation on: Transition Readiness, Perceived Health, and Health Services Utilization in Transitional Age Foster Youth Compared to Controls.

💥Nicole Shawan Junior [ @nicoleshawanjunior ] is a storyteller, creator of the Roots. Wounds. Words. Writing Workshop., Director of Operations for The Weekend Soiree [ @theweekendsoiree ], screenwriter, editor, event producer, director and film producer, felon, and former police prosecutor.  

Her work has been featured in Rigorous Magazine, For Harriet and The Feminist Wire, and has received support from Sundress Academy for the Arts, the Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival, The Hurston/Wright Foundation, The Black Film & TV Collective, African Voices, amongst others.  She has directed and produced the documentaryBoundless: A Celebration of Black Women, as well as produced the web series, This. That. & the Third. As a prosecutor for over a decade, she prosecuted hundreds of domestic violence cases ranging from misdemeanor assault to homicide.  She later became a police prosecutor, she prosecuted police officers for a range of offenses from abuse of authority to excessive use of force.  The first civilian attorney to prosecute a member of the NYPD.  She led the investigations and prosecutions of force against NBA player Thabo Sefolosha, tennis star James Blake and postal worker Glenn Grays.
