This is the last show of the season and of 2019. It has been a big year for me and I thank all my listeners for their support and advice for the show.

To round off the season my guest is the energizer bunny herself who in 2016 started up a race event management company, Idea Run. She rolled in all her past professional skills as a writer, PR person, lawyer and journalist and combined them with her passion for running and ended up with founding Indonesia’s top Five race event management companies.

Let her energy and enthusiasm be infectious and spread to the rest of us to welcome 2020.

This is our second to last show this season and we will take a break and pick up again in February 2020!

I am so excited for today’s guests because we welcome my 12-year-old daughter Paloma and 11-year-old niece Shakira who are aspiring Youtubers on their journey of growing their followers.

I wanted to put a finger on the pulse of what motivates them to dedicate their time on developing a social media presence. Apart from plain fun, they see the skills involved in growing a fan base as a necessity for their generation. Full of irreverent wit they mistakenly label anyone old as "Boomers," and sheds an interesting viewpoint that to the young, old is just old.*

Life is a blank slate for them and they are already making headway on developing their creativity, technological skills as well as plenty of self reflection on what truly makes them happy.

Without further ado I bring you Paloma and Shakira or as you will soon know them as Sushi Nooshie.

It has become increasingly rare to find couples who stay content with their marriages and it is a delight to see my old friend stay in love with the woman in his life whom simultaneously he views as his girlfriend, wife and mother of his children. Such adoration and care he showed when speaking of his true partner in life and how she had claimed that "irreplaceable" spot in his heart.

He loves running and the running community loves him back for his easygoing and encouraging approach in connecting with other runners. Don't let the carefree approach fool you of the driven and ambitious man this former reporter has for his hobby of running which he pursues with deep commitment and develops into a second career following his retirement from journalism.

His ambition is for recreational sports to develop in Indonesia as part of sports tourism. Let's hear the story and vision of my dear friend Agus "Abah Ush" Hermawan.

A daring everyday heroine Marta Smith shows us what courage looks like to take a leap of faith on leaving a high ranked 13-year tenure with a global retail company to starting up a new business venture with her husband.

Together they created the fitness based app WannaTrain from scratch and rode the highs and lows of managing and growing a new business. After many blows to earlier versions of the app, they've finally struck the momentum for their business to take off and go global.

On Janda Becanda today are two senior Indonesian reporters with combined experiences of working for international news agencies and primary Indonesian publications.

The episode looks at the importance of role models and mentors particularly in the early stages of one’s career. Our first guest is the esteemed former editor of the Jakarta Globe and news anchor for the Globe’s televised Perspective TV show. He was my mentor at the international news agency I worked for and someone whom I owe a great deal for my on the field reporting skills. And not to mention this guest is the first man on Janda Becanda.

Also joining us is a former news reporter for the BBC world service. She now works for the Global Fishing Watch leveraging her journalism background to advocate environmentally friendly causes, a subject that is near and dear to her heart.

You will hear us reminisce about our reporting days in the late 90s along with the observation and criticism of how journalism has changed in the last two decades.

Nadya Rudianto is a former top Jakarta radio broadcaster who now teaches in one of Jakarta's bespoke boutique Active Barn gym in Kemang. She has a very simple no non-sense approach to exercise as being part of one's life. So much so, she instructs Inferno Pilates in addition to being a radio broadcast instructor in one of Jakarta's top universities.
