Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has announced that he will resign after less than a year in the job, in the wake of several disappointing election results.
The Liberal Democratic Party has governed Japan almost continuously since the 1950s, but Mr Ishiba's ruling coalition has now lost its majority in both houses of the Japanese Diet.
