It’s Freedom Friday! First one of the liberating truths of the gospel is: When we are weak, then we are strong. We’re like jars of clay—made from mud and dust, weak, fallible, breakable. Nothing impressive when you consider that we’re headed back to the dust. But there’s a treasure that can fill these jars of clay with power and free us from living life as if it’s all on us! Next, the great Michelangelo in creating his great work David said that he looked for everything in the slab of stone that didn’t look like David and “I carved until I set him free.” This is what God the ultimate Creator is doing with you and me. We see the unfinished slab, He sees the final work of art. His chiseling is painful but the pain reminds us that he will finish the work he’s started in us. And finally a conversation about what it means to be “In Christ.” It’s like grabbing a rope hanging from a tree over a pond, pulling the rope as far back from the pond as you can; running as fast as you can holding onto the rope, then letting the rope take you as high as it will. Then you let go. When you plunge into that cool, refreshing water and it completely surrounds you, that’s what it’s like to be “In Christ.” Immersed in his infinite ocean of love.
