Dear Lord, Your word is clear that leaders are held to a higher standard. Those who desire to lead will be held accountable for everyone under their care. That is why we pray for the leaders of our communities. We pray for the decision makers, movers, shakers, and people in power. We pray that they would understand the gravity of their position, and humble themselves, lest they be humbled by You. We all occupy some sort of influence in this world, therefore, we all need to be dependent on You, filled with fear and reverence. Help us to seek Your will and lead well. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏾

Diligence means intentionality. We don’t drift into godliness; we pursue it. To keep our hearts is to filter everything through God’s truth and to stay alert to what nourishes or poisons our inner life. A guarded heart isn't a closed heart—it’s one open only to what leads to life.

ADORATION: God, You are the Searcher of hearts. I worship You for knowing me fully and caring about what lives deep within me.

CONFESSION: I admit I’ve let too many distractions, wounds, and lies settle in my heart. Forgive me for being careless with what I dwell on.

THANKSGIVING: Thank You for giving me Your Word as a guard and guide. Thank You for the Spirit who convicts, teaches, and transforms my heart.

SUPPLICATION: Father, help me guard my heart diligently. Give me discernment to recognize what’s toxic and strength to let go of what doesn't honor You. Fill my heart with what is pure, lovely, and true so that everything flowing from it reflects Your love.

Service isn’t a lesser calling—it’s the highest. In serving others, we reflect the heart of Jesus and step into the kind of greatness that heaven honors.

ADORATION: Jesus, I adore You for being the Servant King. You laid down Your rights, took on humility, and served the broken—me included.

CONFESSION: Forgive me for chasing recognition or comfort instead of humbling myself. I confess how often I want to be seen more than to serve.

THANKSGIVING: Thank You for showing that true greatness is found in love and sacrifice. Thank You for giving Your life so I could have mine.

SUPPLICATION: Lord, shape my heart to serve with joy and humility. Make me aware of the needs around me, and I am willing to respond. Help me follow Your example—not just in words, but in actions, seeking no reward but to honor You.

He guards His people continuously, without pause or distraction. When life feels uncertain or out of control, we can take peace in knowing the One who keeps us never grows weary. His care is not limited by time or circumstance.

Whether we are awake or asleep, anxious or calm, God is ever-present. We are held by a Shepherd who watches over us both day and night. You can rest because He doesn’t.

ADORATION: God, You are the ever-watchful Keeper. I praise You for being the same every hour, never inattentive or unaware.

CONFESSION: Forgive me for the times I’ve lived as if I’m alone in my struggles, believing the lie that You are distant or unaware.

THANKSGIVING: Thank You for being fully awake when I am weak, tired, or overwhelmed. Thank You that I can rest my head in peace, knowing You are near.

SUPPLICATION: Lord, help me trust that I don’t have to carry everything. Teach me to rest physically and spiritually, knowing You are guarding every step. Give me faith to release control and peace to sleep in Your care.

Wisdom and discretion aren’t just intellectual traits—they’re spiritual safeguards. God instructs us to keep them before our eyes because they shape how we live, how we respond, and how we rest. When we trust in His wisdom and not our own, fear loses its grip. The promise here is deeply personal: you will lie down and sleep without fear. This sweet sleep isn’t from exhaustion or escape—it comes from confidence in God’s care. As we cultivate wisdom from God’s Word and lean into His understanding, our minds and hearts find peace. In His wisdom, even rest becomes an act of faith.

ADORATION: Father, You are the source of true wisdom and peace. I praise You for being both my Counselor and my Protector.

CONFESSION: I confess that I often lean on my own understanding and let fear rob me of peace. I neglect the wisdom You've freely offered.

THANKSGIVING: Thank you for the sweet rest, You promise when I live in trust and obedience. Thank You for guiding me away from fear into faith.

Harbored anger, resentment, and unresolved conflict can keep me tossing and turning in my bed. I pray that You would relieve my mind tonight. I pray that You would set me down and remind me that Your grace is sufficient. Replace my wandering and unsettling thoughts with memories of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏾

Today’s daily devotional is based on the story of The Bond of Friendship. David and Jonathan make promises to one another. Jonathan would protect David from Saul, and David would show favor and love to Jonathan and his family for all his days. Jonathan learned that Saul’s hatred for David was still burning hot, so he warned David and fled to the wilderness.

"But show me unfailing kindness like the Lord’s kindness as long as I live, so that I may not be killed, and do not ever cut off your kindness from my family—not even when the Lord has cut off every one of David’s enemies from the face of the earth." - 1 Samuel 20:14-15
True friendship is tested when adversity strikes. Everyone is there for the laughs. Plenty of people are around when you get that promotion. But who has your back when you need it most?

True friendship is a gift from God that transcends circumstances and challenges. In this episode of Bible in a Year, we witness the deep bond between Jonathan and David, which serves as a powerful example of loyalty, sacrifice, and mutual trust.

As Saul's jealousy toward David intensifies, Jonathan finds himself torn between his allegiance to his father and his love for his dear friend. Despite the risks involved, Jonathan remains loyal to David. He risks his life and puts it all on the line to save him.

Real friendships are forged in adversity.

Jonathan and David’s bond grows stronger through struggles. In a time of uncertainty and danger, they pledge their loyalty to each other. They make a covenant to protect and support one another, even at the risk of their own lives.

Do you want to know the wildest part of this whole thing? Jonathan has plenty of reasons to root for David’s failure. Jonathan is the prince and heir to the throne. If anyone should feel threatened by David, it’s Jonathan.

Plenty of people want you to do well in life, just as long as it isn’t better than them. That isn’t Jonathan’s heart.

Jonathan's selflessness and courage stand in stark contrast to the envy and hatred that consume Saul's heart. While Saul seeks to destroy David out of fear and insecurity, Jonathan chooses to stand by David's side, demonstrating the true essence of friendship—selfless love, unwavering support, and sacrificial devotion.

As we reflect on Jonathan's covenant with David, may we be inspired to cultivate genuine friendships characterized by trust, loyalty, and mutual respect. The story of Jonathan and David reminds us that true friendship is a reflection of God's love for us. Just as Jonathan risked everything to stand by David, so too did Jesus lay down His life for us.

REFLECTION
Reflect on the friendships in your life and consider how you can strengthen and deepen those relationships. Are there ways you can show kindness, loyalty, and support to your friends, especially in times of need? This week, take the opportunity to reach out to a friend, express your appreciation for their friendship, and reaffirm your commitment to walk alongside them through life's challenges. Pray for God's guidance and grace to cultivate and nurture meaningful friendships that honor Him and reflect His love for the world. 🌍 🌎 🗺️

As My life continues to grow and evolve, I thank You Lord for blessing me with covenant relationships, like David and Jonathan’s. When I'm on the verge of stepping into my destiny, bless me with friendships that have the inside scoop on whomever is trying to cause me harm or hinder my purpose. I pronounce love and favor as the main companions in my friendships. I declare that the circle of friends surrounding my life are purpose driven and destiny minded. Thank You Lord that You are bringing the right people into my life at the right time. From this day forward I will make the conscious decision to invest into my relationships and ensure that our bond of friendship will be strong and purposeful. Even when it seems like I'm in a season of hiding and preparing, I will remain confident that distance and time won’t break the God connections surrounding my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. 🙏🏾

His Word becomes the anchor for the restless soul, even in the quiet hours. When our minds are fixed on who God is, our hearts respond in faith and reverence. The nighttime becomes holy as we invite God into it.

ADORATION: Lord, I praise You for being a God who is near in every hour, even the darkest. Your name brings comfort, strength, and clarity.

CONFESSION: Forgive me for forgetting to call on You when I feel overwhelmed. I often let worry speak louder than Your Word.

THANKSGIVING: Thank You for the peace from remembering who You are. Thank you for never changing and for always being present.

SUPPLICATION: Help me to build the habit of remembering Your name not just in difficulty, but daily. Let Your name guide my heart into obedience, even when I cannot see what lies ahead.
