Public Enemy Number One – The Spirit of Fear

1. Fear Thoughts Produce a Defeated Expectation

2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear (dread, uneasiness, anxiousness) but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

• Fear is a spirit and like all spirits they have no hope of salvation

Luke 21:26-28 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (look up not down or at bad circumstances)

• Sound mind - safe thinking, good judgement, disciplined thought patterns, the ability to understand, make right decisions, and it also means self-controlled thoughts, and fear makes people irrational
• Men’s hearts will fail them because of fear based expectation
• What we expect will produce faith and connect us to victory (joy) or fear will produce torment and connect us to defeat and death

I Jn 4:18 There’s no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, for fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love

2. Fear Always Rushes in When Faith is Not Present

Mk 4:35,37-38 “Let us cross over to the other side.” And a great storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, (“Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”)

• I’m afraid of what, we must identify and confront this with the truth

Jn 8:31-32 “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

3. Conquering Fear Through the Heart and Mouth Connection #release

Lk 8:25 But He said to them, “Where is your faith?”

• Where is it? - At what point did you leave your faith, what stole it

Mk 4:15 As soon as they hear it (The word), Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in them

• They were highly developed in the fear of death, and they were in the clutches of the spirit of fear and it was only going to get worse

Heb 2:15 he releases those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

• Fear God Only – to reverence, honor and be in awe of, we will not reverence or honor sickness and disease, we will be wise and smart but will never worship fear, never afraid

Prov 4:20-24 My son, pay attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Guard your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. (Minds = hearts = mouth = our life)

Matt 12:34 For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Prov 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

1. Sozo Came Because of Compassion, Mercy, and it Healed His Mind

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him

Sozo – To heal, save, make well or to make whole

Lk 8:2, 34-35 And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country. Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid

Right mind – A sound mind, safe thinking, good judgment, disciplined thought patterns, the ability to understand, make right decisions, and it also means self-controlled thoughts.

2. Sozo Came Because of a Faith that Pressed Through Hopelessness

Lk 8:43-44,46,48 a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her money on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me. He said to her  “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace

For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well”
The healing of God gave this woman her dignity back

3. Sozo Came When Fear Was Conquered and Haters Removed

Lk 8:48, 51-56 when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” When He came into  the house, He permitted no one to go in except  Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead. But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.”  Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat.  And her parents were astonished,

Is 54:14 You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you

4. Now Go and Build Me a House so My Healing Power Can Be Proclaimed 

Lk 8:38-39 the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.“ And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him

Mark 5:27 When she heard about Jesus,

Rom 10:14,15 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring good news.

1. The Anointing is In T(his) House 

Is 61:1,3-4 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good news to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim (declare) liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To  comfort those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning The garment of praise for the spirit of oppression; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations

The Anointing is in t(his) house to preach prosperity

Ps 1:3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper

The Anointing is in t(his) house to heal the brokenhearted – broken in pieces, trampled upon, shattered, grinded down, smashed

Ps 147:3 He heals the heartbroken  and bandages their wounds

The Anointing is in t(his) House to proclaim freedom to the captives, those in bondage by the war of sin, the world and the devil

Is 10:27 his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing

The Anointing is in t(his) house to preach recovery of sight to the blind – restore vision, purpose, destiny & dignity (revelation)

Is 49:9 Through you I am saying to the prisoners of darkness, ‘Come out! I am giving you your freedom!’ They will be my sheep, grazing in green pastures and on the grassy hills (no more darkness, now you live in light)

The Anointing is in t(his) house to set free those with oppression – downtrodden, Pharaoh's taskmasters, also sickness and disease

Ps 105:37 He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none sick among them

2. Having a Heart For Our Father’s House

Acts 13:22,36 I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will. For David, after he had served his generation by the will of God fell asleep #legacy

1 Ks 8:17 it was in the heart of my father David to build a temple for the name of the Lord God (Freedom International Christian Training Center)

2 Cor 9:7,8 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose

1. In My Father’s House the Lost are Found and Redeemed

Lk 15:18 I will arise and go to my father’s house

Gal 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”) (This is the purpose for building the Father’s house)

Redemption was the reason He came into the earth, He came to set us free from bondage and to make us His sons and daughters

Gal 4:4-5 God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law (curse), to redeem those who were under the law (curse), that we might receive the adoption as sons

2. In My Father’s House We Will Raise An Army of Deliverers

Ez 37:10-14 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army. Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’ Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the promise land Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put My Spirit in you (forgiven and born again), and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,” says the Lord’

Here we will equip you to fight for your freedom, and eventually fight for the freedom for those who can’t fight for themselves yet

3. We Love Our Father God, So We Love His House

Mark 12:30 love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, mind, and with all your strength

Deut 10:12 what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul

1. Love the Lord with All Your Heart and Life

Gen 15:1 Do not fear, Abram    I am your shield, your very great reward.

Ps 27:1,4,8 The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life  of whom shall I be afraid? The one thing I want from God, the thing I seek most of all, is the privilege of meditating in his Temple, living in his presence every day of my life, When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

Life without the touch of heaven or that supernaturalness of God’s presence is a weak and dissatisfied life

Ps 63:1 I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you;  my whole body longs for you in this dry and weary land where there is no water.

Ps 42:1-2,5 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again my Savior and my God

Fear and discouragement leave when we encounter God’s presence
In His presence we receive His joy and His view point (promises)

1 Sam 30:6 David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was bitter, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened (and encouraged) himself in the (presence of) the Lord his God

Ps 16:11 In Your presence is fullness of joy

Neh 8:10 Don’t be sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!

1 Jn 4:18,19 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has fully matured in love, We love Him because He first loved us

2. Love and Serve the Lord with All Your Strength – Loving His Purposes

Deut 10:12 what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul

Acts 13:22,36 when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers

1.  Hungering and Thirsting After God and His Right-ness in Your Life 

Matt 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

The greatest gift I can give to you is to teach you to hunger for God

There are many different facets to the nature of God, like a priceless diamond, the more we hunger for him the more He is revealed to us
From every angle, as our souls cry approaches him, we see a different side of him, His love, tenderness, power, might, wisdom, joy etc.

Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Ps 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

2. Time to Help Others to Get Right

Is 55:1 "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost.

Jn 6:35 I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

When OUR HEARTS CRY is met, now God expects US to help other men experience that revelation of His love

Jn 4:13-15 "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

Jn 4:39,42 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

Mk 5:2-5,18-20 immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who lived among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.

As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon possessed begged to go with him. But Jesus said, “No, go home to your friends and family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them.

I’ve heard the cry of the people, and now I’m sending you to pharaoh

1.  The Blessing of Hungering After God and His Righteousness

Matt 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Hungry for the (right-ness) of God in every area of life, in my health, wealth, family, soul etc.
Your life will go in the direction of your most dominant hunger
The greatest gift I can give to you is to teach you to hunger for God
Hunger for God represents our desire and dependence upon Him
I learned this lesson many years ago, it’s a grace and a gift
I learned that if you feed hunger for God it grows 

2. Hunger for Rightness in Our Soul – Mind, Will and Emotional Life

Ps 107:9 He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Ps 34:4, 6 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.

3. Hunger for Rightness in Our Families and with a Long Blessed Life

that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord promised

Deut 30:19-20 I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your children may live;  20 that you may love the Lord your God,

4. Hungering for the Rightness of God in Our Bodies

Ps 103:2-3 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits 3 who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases,

5. Hunger for Rightness in Our Finances 

Ps 34:10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.

2 Kings 18:6-8 For he clung to the Lord; he did not turn away from [faithfully] following Him, but he kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses. 7 And the Lord was with Hezekiah; he was successful and prosperous wherever he went

Deut 8:10, 13-18 when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them;  and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are  multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;  when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you from the house of bondage; who led you through (a season of scarcity) who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’ “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth,

Don’t just get hungry, stay hungry even after he blesses you
The hunger to get you there, you will need it to keep you there

6. Hunger for Rightness in My Relationship with God

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (He blesses you with fellowship)

Gen 15:1 Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward

1. Hold On, and Don’t Let Go 

Deut 10:20  You must fear the Lord your God and worship Him and cling to Him

Deut 30:20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them

Joshua 23:8-11 but you shall hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have done to this day. For the Lord has driven out from before you great and strong nations; but as for you, no one has been able to stand against you to this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you. Therefore take careful heed to yourselves, that you love the Lord your God

Victory always follows those that follow God
Follow God wholeheartedly, carefully apply his word to your life
As they held fast to the Lord they were victorious

2.  When We Cling to the Lord it is a Sign of Love and Dependency on Him

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

You cannot hold on to the things of the Lord with one hand and the things of the world with the other

Psalms 27:13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living

We say: Lord we depend on you to take care of us, provide for us and to protect us

Cling to God alone. Know that He is holding on to you

Psalms 63:8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me

3.  Stay Fixed on God

Isaiah 26:3 – You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful

Romans 12:9 Hold fast to what is good

Romans 4:20-21 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform

Abraham was strengthened in his faith as he held on to the promises of God
We cling to Him through His promises

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us
