With the criticism trailing President Tinubu’s decision to suspend democratic governance in Rivers State, do you think the Upper Legislative Chamber would through its actions, act in accordance with the Constitution?

The President swore in the sole administrator of Rivers state in the state house yesterday in Abuja despite calls from all angles stating clearly that the move was illegal.

Politicians across the country have accused the president of being one sided, also legal practitioners condemned the suspension of the governor of the state.

Well this action is not laying to rest anytime soon but what implications should this bring about in our nation's democracy?

Should Nigerians be legitimately worried about the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers and the suspension of the governor, his deputy and all elected members of the state assembly for 6 months?

President Tinubu in a nationwide broadcast yesterday declared state of emergency in Rivers state, Nigeria following the political unrest that has been bedeviling the state for sometime now.

The president also suspended the governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, alongside every other elected officials in the state, announcing a military sole administrator in person of Vice Admiral Ibas Ibok Ete.

So much concerns have been drawn to the action of the president saying he went too far with the suspension of elected leaders letting loose of democracy.

How justifiable is the declaration and announcement of the president?

What do you think could be the intention of the Martin Amaewhule led House of Assembly and do, you think it’ll work?

The federal government’s renewed efforts to implement the financial autonomy granted local governments by the Supreme Court are being frustrated by council chairmen across the country.

On July 11, 2024, the apex court granted autonomy to the councils and the federal government followed suit by setting up a committee on the implementation of the judgement.

Even though, the committee recommended various measures to look out upon, why have the local government councils yet to complete the processes?

According to experts, the recent slash in commodities like food items and other grains is a sign that the Nigeria economy is experiencing certain growth, not to forget the propose slash in petroleum price.

Before now food items have been on a rise and there have been caused lots of concern as to how the trade aspect of the nation has been faring.
