Here we are with another game where the Jays both score 30+!! I love when they continue to shut down the narrative of them "not being able to play together." Offensively, I think we looked great tonight. Obviously the Jays added in 30+ each but it was the playmaking I was really impressed with. JB led the pack with 7 assists but we also saw Tatum with 6, Al with 6 and Smart with 5. This was a really great game offensively. While Timelord's numbers don't jump off the sheet most nights from an offensive standpoint, he provides so much as far as his pick and roll game and offensive rebounding goes. With him out, Theis and Horford stepped up in a major way. Al ended the night with 17pts 10reb and 6ast while Theis added in 10pts and 8reb (only 3 fouls). I'm not saying that Theis is anywhere near as good as Timelord but he brings you a lot of the intangibles that you get with Rob but with less athleticism.
Defensively, we still saw a lot more drop coverage on the pick and rolls and that continued to be an issue tonight like it was against the Heat. Tyrese Halliburton scored 30pts in 26 minutes and was ripping apart our defense at times before he fouled out. That part is concerning to me but not something I am freaking out about quite yet. This game certainly wasn't perfect and should not have been a 5 point win BUT at the end of the day, a win is a win and every one of them counts!
