Food plots are the topic this month as we talk with Nick Percy of Killer Food Plots. Nick is one of the leaders in the food plot industry and has great advice on getting started, as well as  maximizing your odds of hunting success.

Suppressors are the topic this month as we talk with gun department manager Jeania Canel. Jeanie describes how suppressors work, the process of buying one and how much they cost. Canel also talks about choosing the right suppressor and how to maintain that piece of gear.

We're talking guns safes this month on the Jay's Sporting Goods Podcast. Tom Spencer from the Clare store describes what to look for in a safe.  He talks about the fire rating, thickness of the steel and type of lock. Tom also has advice on where to put a safe. Deer dogs are the topic this month on the Jay's Sporting Goods Podcast as we talk with Jeremy Moore of the DogBone company (DogBoneHunter.com). Jeremy trains dogs to recover whitetails for hunters and also to find shed whitetail antlers.  His company has come up with a training system that he says will allow any dog owner to do the same.

Dave talks about choosing the right gun, the best powder and bullets….and the correct way to load a muzzleloader. He also discusses how to clean your gun and whether to hunt on a “clean” or “dirty” barrel.

Some great tips on how to process your own venison this month on the Jay’s Sporting Goods Podcast. Mike Horswill walks us through the steps of field dressing, aging, butchering and freezing your deer. He also discusses the finer points of making burger, jerky and salami.

Vice President of Operations, Chad Stearns joins us this time on the Jay’s Sporting Goods podcast. Chad recently returned from dall sheep hunt in the mountains of Alaska and has a great story to tell about that adventure. Stearns describes the preparation that went into the hunt, a close encounter with a sow grizzly and her cub... and the 405 yard shot that harvested his trophy. It’s a story of hard work, perseverance and quite possibly, some divine intervention.
