The Delphia Cello Quartet at the Aster begins a monthly residency this Sunday night at the Aster in Minneapolis from 8 till 10. The quartet is managed by Julia Floberg who also is one of the cellists. As we open this report, the Delphia Cello Quartet is playing a J.S. Bach piece for a dance form known as a sarabond.

The Acme Jazz Company performs Swing and a whole lot more at Crooner’s in Fridley, this Thursday October 24. Doors open at 6, and the band starts at 7:30. Phil Nusbaum visited with Acme arranger Bob Parsons and vocalist Arne Fogel for some inside Acme Jazz Company insights.

Pop Wagner and Charlie Maguire bring Woody Guthrie Legacy Voices to Crooner’s Lounge and Supper Club in Minneapolis on Saturday October 19 at 6pm. It’s an evening of Woody Guthrie songs framed in selections from Woody’s extensive writings. Pop and Charlie told Phil Nusbaum all about it.
