God's Mercies are New each morning, but does that mean we can live how we want?

What does repentance and obedience have to do with God's mercy?

Concern is passive, Jesus was never concerned for people but had compassion for them.

Compassion is active, compassion pursues, compassion is inconvenient, compassion is what Jesus has called us too.

Seeing and experiencing God as a good father is often easier said than done. We have often been taught by popular culture and tradition that we will always get what we deserve and often when negative consequences land on our shoulders, we can fall into the trap of thinking that God is punishing us because he is angry with us.

The truth is though that God is sitting on a throne of grace, where He is pouring out His Spirit of love and mercy if we are prepared to draw near to Him and accept His love for us. He has poured out His anger and judgement on His own Son so that we could be brought into fellowship with Him, as His Children.

We are God’s children and in Christ, we are heirs of all of God’s promises in our lives. Both positive and negative. Being God’s children has brought us into the care, and guidance of our Father in heaven. He loves us so much that He has poured His Holy Spirit into us, even though we are sinful and don’t deserve it.

Jesus didn’t say “It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you believe in me, it's all good”

This is our third message from the series of things Jesus didn't say, he did not say you won't ever have a bad day or go through hardship, but he did promises that it would not be wasted and that he would use it for His Glory if we would surrender to him.

Far too often we treat Jesus like a genie rather than a saviour. A bank rather than a father. We unpacked that God loves us and calls us to walk in obedience that produces joy.

Jesus clearly calls us to forgive others and not hold grudges against each other. To love and show mercy.

How do we face the troubles of the unknown? How do we have hope for a better tomorrow?
