Winter will start tomorrow and Mother Nature will be right on schedule. There will be a couple of opportunities for flurries to fly this week. The bigger problem though will come on Christmas Eve night with a heavy rain and wind event.

In the wake of the recently-departed nor’easter, we analyze how the snow forecast played out according to plan and why. We also discuss what happened at the immediate coast and the different types of precipitation that’s were observed at various phases of the storm.

Heavy snow is falling across the region right now in association with a strong nor’easter. In this episode you’ll get the final call on snow amounts as well as the timing and extent of the mixed precipitation we’re expecting to occur. The most significant snowfall since 2018 is likely to occur in our area tomorrow night. This is due to a nor’easter that’s going to be coming up the coast. In this episode we highlight the potential accumulations areas may see, the wind gusts we expect, and the potential for coastal flooding. We also delve into the question of how much mixed precipitation is going to occur in this event.

Low pressure will move offshore on Wednesday and a very cold area of high pressure will stay in place just to our north. This means snow. In this episode we’ll go through the timing, accumulation amounts, and some small details that have yet to be resolved. This storm still has a bust potential, as I also discuss.

We’ve got two snow events this week folks. A wave of low pressure is going to pass well south and east tomorrow with some rain and light snow. A major coastal storm is expected to form later Wednesday. For some of our area this could turn into a blizzard.

As the pattern becomes blocky aloft the potential will present itself for two snow events this week. The first comes with a frontal wave on Monday with a potential changeover. The more important event comes Wednesday when a nor’easter may give us wind-driven, plowable snow.
