JDubYa [Pink Mammoth] on The RIPEcast!

Listen Later

We've been long overdue for a RIPEcast from one of our all-time favorite Burning Man camps, the legendary Pink Mammoth. On the 1s and 2s this week is Pink Mammoth resident, JDubYa (a.k.a. Jonathan Will), dropping an array of uplifting house grooves to remind us all that summer has arrived and Burning Man is only just around the corner.
"For this RIPEcast mix I wanted to create a sound that reflected the summer vibe", says JDubYa, "a time where extremes can not only exist side by side, they are encouraged, even celebrated, for giving to the whole experience- like high-energy nights mixed with moments of beach-side recovery; driving bass-lines are laced with snippets of smooth nostalgic vocals, horns or keys... new tech is injected with hard ol' funk, then put in a blender, mixed and served up cool with a sultry cayenne twist. We hope you savor this laid-back, spicy juxtaposition of new and old-school summer-inspired sounds. May your summer have the best of all previous summers, and yet unlike anything ever before. Enjoy!"
You can catch JDubYa and the rest of the Pink Mammoth crew this coming Saturday, June 18th at Mighty in San Francisco for their official camp fundraiser. Our very own, Zach Moore, is also on the bill to help Pink Mammoth get back to the playa this year. Discounted pre-sale tickets are available right now at http://pinkmammoth.eventbrite.com. For more details on the party visit www.pinkmammoth.org. Pink Mammoth also has a Facebook page set up for the event which you can visit with this link: http://on.fb.me/pinkmammoth-6-18-fundy.
A little more background on this week's guest.......
