I end every Sunday benediction with the words, “Go and be blessed, and be a blessing.” What does it mean to be blessed, and how do you do it?

Whether our world was literally created by God, or by the forces of time and physics and chemistry, it’s our home. This Earth Day weekend, let us remember what it means to love the creation we live in.

Whether we have children or not, many of us would likely say we are pro-creation. Yet, what does such a claim ask of us?

In religious contexts, there is much hubbub about creation. How did we come into being? Yet, how might we be called to understand science and religion as working together to explain creation? How might this inform our sense of whether or not we are creative?

Often our exploration of Easter is derailed by disbelief in a literal resurrection. What if Easter itself was a metaphorical tale of liberation? How might we be called to respond?

As children we often long to be adults, with their obvious freedom from so many of the restrictions of childhood. But being liberated means letting go of things, too. Liberation rarely comes for free.

What’s the difference? In this political polarized time, we are either drawn to or repelled by words that sound like liberal. Yet, are they the same? What does liberation offer us in a religious context?

In this world where we refer to a dessert as “to die for”, it seems our desires may be vast.  This service will look behind the curtain at things we desire through poetry, story and music.
