I love comics. If you've listened to even one past episode, you know this. I bring this up because today's episode is a perfect example of why I love comics so much. Paper Planes from Mad Cave Studios Maverick imprint is a coming-of-age Summer camp story about friendship that is at the top of my list of favorite graphic novels I read so far this year. Leighton and Dylan, the two main characters, feel authentic as they deal with adversity and their own identities. The issues they face are handled with care and empathy. I haven't even gotten to my favorite character: Cricket! I was lucky enough to chat with writer Jennie Wood and artist Dozerdraws. This was a lovely conversation that I hope you enjoy and that I hope makes clear how wonderful a graphic novel is Paper Planes.
