Writing from their individual experiences about what people said in the first few weeks and how they both got through the toughest times of their lives. Lessons on understanding that everyone grieves in their own way - don't judge them, the fact that you can be happy and sad at the same time and how its the little thing that can cause the most pain in the aftermath - like no light on in the porch.

Lots in this chapter starting with the idea that we need to process past hurts in order to live good lives. Jenny thinks we should probably all be going to therapy but unfortunately its impossible for so many due to the cost. There is lots of self help out there and we go through a list of 'Things to help' on page 78. Mairead gives us her thoughts on self care and of course we talk about Mobile Phones and their hold on all of us.

Jenny talks about the reality of becoming a first time mum and what it really felt like at the time. Mairead talks about similar feelings and both agree that it is the steepest learning curve of their lives. In the book there is some advice for anyone new into the world of Motherhood. Mairead talks about the plans she always had for a fourth baby that unfortunately never happened and the IVF journey she went on. And there is a chat about the word Motherhood and how it doesn't have to necessarily involve having biological children - 'To be female is to mother, and for the most part we should be mothering ourselves'.
