It's Friday the 13th, which it was the day that the lockdowns began here in the Garden State. And while we were hoping that the situation would be getting better by now, it appears our rates of infections, hospitalization, and deaths are climbing and worrisome. We are taking a break from our usual Covid coverage to talk about the other big story for 2020, the upcoming election. We wanted to make sure we understand how voting will look and feel this year given everything going on, so we are bringing on an expert. We are delighted to be joined by Carol Harvey, Chair of the League of Women Voters for Somerset and Hunterdon Counties.
Carol talks about the process of mail-in voting, getting your ballot, dropping it off, ensuring that you follow the procedures so that it's counted, and what to do if you run into any issues whatsoever.
You can find more resource from the League of Women Voters at https://www.lwvnj.org/
You can also check with the state's 2020 voting portal at - https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote.shtml
There you can ensure you are registered, instructions for voting, locations to drop-off your ballot, or vote in person if you choose, and how to track your vote.
No sides are taken, we just want to make sure all votes are count and all voices are heard.

The good news for New Jersey is that the transmission rate is still relatively low. However, in one demographic group, 19-24 year olds, transmission rate is 3x as high, suggesting that going back to school is leading to spikes in Covid-19 cases across the Garden State.
That being said, Big10 football will happen, which means Rutgers University will have the chance to play.
And some YouTube influencers throw a party at the Jersey Shore where 1,500 people show up, and 8 are arrested.
