  • Devotion 424 | Colossians 3:8 "Put away malice and filthy language"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." Having been washed, sanctified, and justified (1 Corinthians 6:11), Colossians 3:8 commands us to "put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth." What is malice? How do we know which filthy language is a sin? How does "deadnaming" fit into this? Pastor Jesse explains.

    Verses referenced:
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 "9 Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males, 10 no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."
Ephesians 5:3-4 "3 But sexual immorality and any impurity or greed should not even be heard of among you, as is proper for saints. 4 Obscene and foolish talking or crude joking are not suitable, but rather giving thanks."
