Dr. Jesse Campbell introduces the first devotion in our new series "Love Story: The Book of Ruth." Yesterday's sermon taught Ruth chapter 1 (link below). • Devotion 431 | Colossians 3:16-17 "Worship changes things"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." We focus on the last half of Colossians 3:16 today: "Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." When we sing hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in our heart towards God, everything changes. When we're grateful to Him for all that He's done, our wishlist seems puny in comparison. And when we behold His glory and we reflect back to Him how awesome He is, by stark juxtaposition, the challenges that assail us become miniscule. Not because they're diminished or unimportant, but because of how big God is.

  • Devotion 430 | Colossians 3:16 "The Bible is not an ornament"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." Colossians 3:16 says "Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." The Bible is not an ornament that hangs on your lifestyle. Let it be the source of all wisdom, let it be spoken at your dinner table. You want to have a Radical Family? Open up the Bible when you're at the dinner table.

  • Devotion 429 | Colossians 3:15 "Let peace rule"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." Today's theme is "peace." Following Paul's call to put on love above all, Colossians 3:15 continues "And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful." This isn't the peace of a beautiful sunset: this is the peace that comes from the maker of every sunset. Let peace rule. And the call to gratitude is not an afterthought. What eats away at the peace in your life? When you think you're entitled to more and that God's holding out on you. So let peace rule your heart and be thankful.

  • Devotion 428 | Colossians 3:14 "Love one another!"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." Continuing our study of Colossians 3, verse 14 tells us to "Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity." Forgive each other, bear with one another, and above all, LOVE one another. If you truly love God's people and His church, you're going to be forgiving. So love!

  • Devotion 423 | Colossians 3:5b "Greed = Idolatry?"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." Colossians 3:5 tells us to, "put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry." Why is greed equated with idolatry? And who will experience God's wrath mentioned in verse 6? You are a new creation; you've been called higher, Christian. So repent from sin, leave these things behind, and you need not ever worry about experiencing God's wrath.

  • Devotion 427 | Colossians 3:12-13 "Forgive, forgive, forgive"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." Do you want to have a radical family? Forgive each other. Colossians 3:12-13 reminds us that "Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another." Regardless of the structure of your family, the one stratagem needed is forgiveness!

  • Devotion 426 | Colossians 3:11 "Unified in Christ"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." We are unified in Christ. Distinctive, yet together. Colossians 3:11 reminds us "In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all." Have you over emphasized ethnic pride in the home? In Christ, there is no such distinction. It's not something that we have earned. It's not something that defines us eternally. It is not something that eclipses the gospel.

  • Devotion 425 | Colossians 3:9-10 "Do not lie"
Pastor Jesse Campbell provides today's daily devotion continuing our sermon series "Radical Family." It's simple: Don't lie. Colossians 3:9 commands us "Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator." Lies of omission and lies to cover up covert behavior are just as bad as lies from your lips. The devil is called the father of lies and, when he lies, is said to speak in his native tongue. Don't lie. Don't speak in the language of the enemy of God.
