TransFutures Episode Eleven. Robyn Precious, a young trans advocate for the NHS, shares his journey so far.  Robyn describes the benefit of the support he had at a young age from his family who allowed him to explore his gender, be who he is and accept himself.  He talks about the positive impact of supportive initiatives within his local NHS service for young people such as a youth forum, LGBT+ staff networks and trans policy.  We talk about his experience of trans healthcare, accessing hormones and what he would like to see change to improve services.  We also discuss the importance of LGBT+ education and raising awareness of trans issues with the cisgender community.

TransFutures Episode Ten. Vyjayanti Vasanta Mogli a remarkable human rights activist and trans advocate in India shares her astonishing journey overcoming life’s toughest struggles in Hyderabad, India.  Vyjayanti talks about how she was thrown out of her family home for being trans, escaped violent relatives and was taken in by the Hijra community.  Through receiving vital care and support from this commune Vyjayanti was able to acquire skills through distant learning and go on to achieve her degree and masters degree. With her skills and knowledge Vyjayanti has gone on to transform the state of Telengana, India for trans people. She has been instrumental in reversing the draconian laws of British imperialism and paves an inspiring and hopeful path for her trans siblings in India.

TransFutures Episode Nine. Finnigan Jones founding director of Transcendance, an international network of trans support groups, shares his story as a trans man growing up in Texas.  Finn talks about his battles with drink, drugs and self-harm growing up and his journey to finding love and acceptance.  Finn talks about his inspiring work as a pioneer for the trans community in Texas and how he supports trans folk all over the world with Transcendance.  We discuss the difficulty in navigating trans masculinities and the barriers to healthcare in the UK and US.

TransFutures Episode Eight. Peggy Jones an activist from California shares her vivid journey about how she found her true gender despite the immense pain and struggle of growing up intersex in the 1960’s.  Peggy bravely recounts the huge injustices against her body throughout her life attempting to change and control her path.  Through many years of hurt and confusion Peggy took back control of her body and her life.

TransFutures Episode Seven. Nhlaka Ncwane a trans man from South Africa shares his inspiring story about finding strength, resilience and motivation under immense pressure.  Nhlaka highlights the importance of education and awareness training in South Africa and how this kick-started his own journey of discovery. We talk about the path to finding love and support in religious communities and the barriers that still exist when ensuring safety and acceptance for trans people in South Africa.

Susie Green: A Mermaid's Story. Listen as Susie Green, CEO of Mermaids, shares her inspiring story. How the support of a small charity and crucial help overseas meant that her daughter Jackie could survive her childhood and blossom into a confident and proud trans woman. Susie shares how she helped grow Mermaids from its early beginnings to one of the biggest and well known LGBTQ+ charities in the UK today. We discuss the impact of the media, COVID-19 and adapting services to ensure a bright TransFuture for years to come.

Lisa and Alex Consani - A courageous mother and daughter duo from California. Listen as Alex describes her journey into femininity as a young child all the way to being signed as an international model at 15 years old.
