This story from r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk was WILD! I actually omitted a lot of the foul language used by the guest, including some VERY harmful words. Yikes, just... Yikes. 😬 All because she didn't have the patience to work with the front desk to figure the issue out.

She could have easily put down her own card, or let her mom fill out the authorization, and then figured out why they thought it had been booked and paid for through Suxpedia. Maybe they'd mixed their trips up? Maybe the mom had been looking at Suxpedia, booked through the hotel instead, and forgot? There's so many explanations for what happened, but the second you start yelling and cursing, it doesn't matter anymore. You're OUT! ❌

Gotta love when the Front Office can't get ahold of anyone who knows what's going on with a group contract. 🤦‍♀️ I can't tell you how many times we had this kind of issue at the convention hotels I worked at. Eventually it became a rule that the hotel employee(s) who were in charge of the group contract HAD to be on property the whole time the event was taking place. Didn't matter if it was the weekend or regular off days, someone had to be there so they could handle it when issues like this happened.

So you know that skit I posted earlier this week? A lot of people were commenting that the hotel raising their prices for events or holidays was "price gouging".

And I can't help but go, "Um, actually ☝🤓"

It feels unfair, it feels scummy, and it sucks, I agree. But it's not technically price gouging. 😅 At least not according to the letter of the law. Hotels aren't going to get in legal trouble for raising their rates due to a concert, sorry!
