An Interview with LaChell R H --Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, LeChell Rush Honorat, also known as "The Shootah," is a multidisciplinary artist who creates written, visual & spoken experiences centering the black queer feminine experience, motherhood and mental health advocacy. LeChell is a 3x Women of the World Poetry Slam Finalist, currently ranked 2nd in the world for the 2022 competition, and a finalist in the inaugural Stonewall International Poetry Slam. She is author of the collection Cause Therapy Ain't For Black Folks from Qwest Press and the self-published collection Jaywalking and a Watering Hole Fellow. Her work can be found on Write About Now (@wanpoetry) and Button Poetry. Jaywalking is a photographic collection paired with quotes from the participants and punctuated with poems also written by the photographer LeChell R. H. highlighting their range and exploring the experiences of black queer and trans women navigating the complexities of the communities in which their identities intersect
