JMT Media kicked it up a notch and switched gears on its Community Corner segments. We went ON THE GO and out into the community! (While social distancing and keeping up with CDC guidelines).

On Monday, May 18th at 11:00, Jaclyn Tacoronte, hosted her segment with the motivational, Aaron Dickens, CEO of Empire Athletic Group and his dedicated staff at Verrazano Crossfit in Staten Island, NY. Verrazano CrossFit is a premiere CrossFit family owned facility in hip Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island. It was founded on the idea that focusing on the health of their employee’s would have a significant ripple effect on the entire company and, in turn, to the community.

Our special guests were Karen Goldman, LMHC, BCPC Bereavement/Psychotherapy and Founder/Executive Director of Emma's Place - Staten Island Grief and Loss Center for Children and Families Emma's Place-Staten Island Grief & Loss Center for Children & Families and Jeff Benjamin, Board Chair for The Staten Island Running Association Staten Island Running Association, Inc.

We discussed what Emma's Place is all about and its extensive history, their new virtual programs and the Staten Island Running Association and the upcoming Memorial Day Virtual Flag 5K Run/Walk.

The proceeds support Richmond University Medical Center Staten Island University Hospital Meals on Wheels of Staten Island, Inc. Project Hospitality Makerspace NYC Staten Island track and field Volunteer Heart Ambulance

Our special guest for the day was Efrat LaMandre, Primary Care Provider & Family Nurse Practitioner at EG Healthcare. We discussed how the EG Healthcare team adjusted the office to accommodate patients safely and efficiently, how to get tested, and the healthcare role within the community.

We discussed an amazing community partnership with Skatepark 5050, Assembyl 3D and Youthbuild Staten Island in support by Con Edison. They all collaborated and helped redefine workforce development to help combat COVID-19 by raising funds, creating and distributing over 5,000 face shields for medical personnel on the frontlines.
