Today is National Compliment Day according to the Internet and we are going with it.
Awks.
However, Ireland has never been great at taking a compliment.
It got us thinking about why Irish people aren’t great at accepting compliments and what are the benefits of them. We couldn’t get a psychiatrist so we asked for the next best thing!
Comedian Joanne McNally says that she believes that compliments are often confused as a transactional thing and that if you give one you should get change back!
But she also says there is hope because a new generation of people in Ireland are beginning to finally accept compliments for what they are... a simple positive statement and not an investigation!
