Strong winds of 50 mph or more will develop across the Northeast tonight and Monday before easing Tuesday. Dry weather for much of the Eastern US this week. In the Western US a new winter storm moves in with heavy rain coast and heavy snows in the mountains.

A new storm forms in the Southern Plains tonight and will spread rain across the Mississippi, Ohio Valley and the Deep South next 2 days and then bring more rain to the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states Saturday. Severe weather will develop across the Southern Plains Thursday and across the Gulf States Friday with elevated tornado risk.

The first of 3 storm systems is exiting the Northeast tonight as rains end, but a new storm system and cold front moving east from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast will bring more rain Wednesday and Wednesday night in the East. In the Western US a new storm is moving inland and this will bring more rain to the Eastern US this weekend with some snow possible in Northern NY and Northern New England.

The first is a compact low that will bring rain tonight into Tuesday for parts of the Northern Mid Atlantic to Southern New England. The second is right behind it and that will bring heavy rain across the South as well as up and down the East Coast Wednesday into Thursday. A third system will bring more rain to the Deep South and the East Friday night into Saturday. Rainfall amounts will be in a range of 3 to 6 inches and there is the potential for some flooding issues. In the Western US, weather conditions continue to calm down from the rain and snow storm over the weekend but we do have weaker weather system moving into parts of the Western US all week long and into next weekend.

An active and somewhat gloomy weather pattern lies ahead for the next 8 days in the Northeast, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes as a series of storm systems bring rain up the East Coast Tuesday followed by a stronger low that brings rain for the Ohio Valley, Mid Atlantic and Northeast Wednesday into Thursday. A third system will follow next weekend. The snow storm in the Western US slowly subsides in the coming days but more snow is possible later this week in the mountain West with valley rains and also along the West Coast.

Severe weather and elevated tornado risk is forecast for the Ohio Valley to the Lower Great Lakes. Strong winds and rain will move into the Eastern US Wednesday. In the Western US a major storm dropping southward from Alaska to off the US West Coast will bring heavy rain from Coastal California to Washington State while the mountains in the West will see snow accumulations of up to 12 feet Thursday through Sunday.

A quick shot of cold air is on its way out in the Eastern US and a big warm up will get underway Monday. 60s will be pushing up the East Coast Tuesday and Wednesday. A strong storm in the Norhtwest will head across the Plains to the Great Lakes Monday into Wednesday. A trailing cold front will bring showers, thundersstorms and severe weather to the Mississippi Valley and the Lower Great Lakes Tuesday. Wednesday severe weather will move across the Lower Ohio and Tennessee Valley as well as the Deep South. The warm up in the Eastern US will come with increasing winds Tuesday and Wednesday. Showers will occur late Tuesday into Wednesday morning followed by another round of showers and possible thunderstorms Wednesday night into early Thursday.

Some snow is possible in Northern New England tonight and in the Central Appalachians Saturday. In the Western US stormy weather has abated. Next week a storm will develop in the Rockies and head to the Plains and Western Great Lakes with rain and snow.
