Heaviest snow will accumulate in elevated areas of Upstate NY and New England. The week ahead brings a new weather pattern that is mostly on the quiet side with seasonal temperatures.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 1/25/2024 Our gloom and doom pattern in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states continues into Friday morning before some imrprovement later in the day. Over the weekend another storm system will move across the South with heavy rain and then turn northeast. A cold high in Eastern Canada will feed cold air southward. This sets up for another round of rain near the coast of the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. Elevation driven accumulating snows are likely in the interior Northeast. We will look ahead to next week and the long range.

Across the South and Southeast US heavy rains and flash flooding continues today into Thursday. There should be a break in the action in the Northeast later Friday with very warm temperatures. Another storm system follows Sunday into Monday and that could bring snow for the interior Northeast.

Accumulations will be on the light side. Heavy rain over the next several days across the Deep South & Gulf Coast, the Tennesse & Lower Ohio Valley. Waves of rain will move through the Eastern US into Friday. Another storm system will bring rain Sunday with snow in the interior areas of the Northeast.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 1/22/2024 Winter Weather Advisories and areas of Ice Storm Warnings are up from the Southern Plains to the Mississippi and Upper Ohio Valley/Lower Great Lakes. A series of low pressure areas will be heading out of the Gulf States and spread waves of rain through the Southern and Eastern US throughout the week. 5 TO 7 inches of rain are forecast across the Gulf States with lesser amounts for the Mid Atlantic into New England. Arctic air is gone and we do not see any any arctic air masses coming into the US during this week.

Several inches or a bit more ar forecast. Winter Storm Warnings are up for the mountains of SW Pennsylvania southward into West Virginia. An upper trough will slide southeast from the Great Lakes to the New Jersey coast as low pressure devlops offshore. Another shot of arctic heading southeast from Canada will build in behind the storm for the weekend.

Much of the weather in the eastern half of the US is quiet. Low pressure from the Great Lakes will move southeastward into the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states bringing accumulating snow Friday. Another shot of arctic air will be spreading eastward and move into the Eastern US Friday night and into the weekend.

Winter Storm warnings continue in parts of the South and in the Appalachians as very cold air continues to sweep eastward. Another very cold air mass will cover the Plains to the East late this week and into the weekend and there could be another storm system at the end of the week along the East Coast, though it seems to be less menacing than a few days ago.

Snow and ice across the Deep South will spread to the Northeast and Mid Atlantic tonight and Tuesday. Bitter cold covers the Plains and Midwest. Late week another storm system could bring some snow to the Eastern US with very cold air to follow for the weekend. Long range sees the winter pattern relaxing across the US next week.
