Welcome back! In Episode 012, I introduce you to my next guest Miriam Fregoso.

Miriam is a Mental Health Therapist who's work is focused on high school students - where she helps these students practice mindfulness, & also implements fitness, meditation, visualization & manifestation. I first met Miriam & her husband Junior at a DEKA STRONG event I hosted through my DEKA Bay Area Program at CrossFit of Fremont (powered by ikala) back in June 2022. Miriam, Junior and their team called Garlic City Ruckers returned again in September 2022 to take on our DEKA MILE event.

Miriam’s fitness journey started back in 2010 when she was battling mental health challenges like depression, panic & anxiety attacks as well as enduring both mental & physical abuse. Miriam credits fitness, her life experiences & God for who she is today. Miriam started Spartan Racing in 2016 & has also completed endurance-based events through Machete Madness and GORUCK.

Welcome back! In Episode 011, I introduce you to my friend, fellow Spartan SGX Coach & Personal Trainer Tara Pipia.

Tara is a Personal Trainer, Spartan SGX Coach, Spartan Race & DEKA Age Group Competitor, and recently earned a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology. Tara is also a former Physical Education Teacher, is a Army Master Fitness Trainer, served in the Army National Guard, served in Afghanistan as well as other Army-related roles throughout the US from NY to VA and GA.

Tara’s fitness journey started as a road runner - running 13 marathons and even qualified/ran the Boston Marathon. Today Tara’s focus is finding her bliss as a Spartan Race and DEKA Age Group competitor.

Joe Bala Fitness Podcast | Episode 008 - Allan Reyes
Welcome back! In Episode 008 I introduce you to my cousin Allan Reyes.
Allan is someone I consider my older brother. He was born & raised in Sacramento, CA. We grew up together as children throughout the 1980’s, lost touch as teens, but re-united as young adults back in the late 2000’s.
Allan & I have a bond as brothers and he always looks out for me. During the most difficult/dargest stages of my battles with depression & anxiety, he has helped support my wife to always guide me back to the light.

Welcome back! In Part 2 of this solo episode I further expand upon and share with you my journey on finding my happy (H.P.P.E.), which involves my career switch and life shift in order to re-awaken myself and level up my life.
I live by an acronym that wholeheartedly represents my authentic self and is my driving force for why I do what I do, which is H.P.P.E.
H = Happy
P = Passion
P = Purpose
E = Empathy
All of the above are things that represent me as a Human (Husband, Father, Uncle, Brother, Friend), a Coach/Trainer, Athlete & and a Small Business Owner.
When I interact w/ people in general & work with my clients/students, I find that I am at my HAPPIEST. I do what I do as this is my PASSION. My PURPOSE is to serve those who I am able to. I am a people person, which is why I'm so EMPATHETIC.

Philip is an extremely intelligent, experienced and forward-thinking Health Coach who is the Founder and Co-Owner of Burlingame Fitness based out of Burlingame, CA. He is originally from Memphis, TN. He and his wife Liz welcomed a beautiful baby boy into their lives about 1 year ago.
