From the recent red carpet premiere of their latest movie, “God’s Country Song” to Tanzania in July to climb Mt Kilimanjaro for their Combat Veteran Project to their mega-furniture stores throughout Arkansas, Joe and Larra Donaldson are not slowing down one bit! Their main company is the widely known and very popular multi-unit furniture store, Sam’s Furniture. They use Sam’s Furniture as the foundation and platform to fund all our outreach and serve projects! This is an attempt to show and prove to combat-wounded soldiers that they still have a purpose and can accomplish great things even with the pain buried within. They took a group over to climb in 2021 and climbed 9 of 11 summits on the mountain. This is round 2 coming up. SDIA exists to engage, assist and empower our nation’s “Sheep Dogs” (military veterans, law enforcement, fire & rescue, and EMS personnel) to reengage in living a meaningful and productive life with a renewed sense of purpose. Climbing to the summit of Kilimanjaro is mentally and physically challenging but can be life-giving and a revolutionary experience for these men and women. Embracing the call to “Serve the least of these”, Sam’s Furniture partnered with 2ndMilk, a nonprofit that aids families of the poorest country in the world, Malawi Africa. Their support provides a formula to infant orphans and a poultry program that stimulates the village's economy while also providing a much-needed food source for the villagers. American Wheelchair Mission - - - After partnering with American Wheelchair Mission, Sam’s Furniture has been able to extend the gift of mobility in Vietnam. The lives of the Sam’s Serve Team were impacted just as deeply as those Vietnamese recipients upon receiving their wheelchairs.
