Joe Talks Comics

This week Joe talks with his friend Ashton about volumes 1 to 4 of modern classic Image/Skybound comic book series The Walking Dead.

This conversation contains full spoilers for the book, and I want to give a trigger and content warning for suicide, along with some other sensitive topics and generally dark themes. I totally understand if you're not comfortable with that and want to skip this episode.

The Walking Dead was written by Robert Kirkman, pencilled and inked by Tony Moore (for volume 1) and Charlie Adlard (for volumes 2-4) with grey tones by Cliff Rathburn. The series was lettered by Kirkman for the first 19 issues and from then on it was lettered by Rus Wooton.

Episode 022.

This week Joe talks with one of his favourite creators Francis Manapul, artist of new comic Clear, written by Scott Snyder, as well as his career and creative process in general.

Clear #1 is out now, the day this episode goes live, so go check it out at your LCS or digitally on Comixology if you're interested! The original digital version of Clear is free to read on Comixology with an Amazon Prime, Kindle Unlimited or Comixology Unlimited subscription, but as always it's even better to support your local comic store and a comic like this physically if you are able to!

If you read the first issue now it's in print (which I would of course recommend but to each their own) and enjoy it, make sure to ask your local comic store to pre-order the upcoming issues for you as pre-orders are essential to the success of a comic like this.

Clear is written by Scott, drawn, inked and colored by Francis, lettered by AndWorld Design and edited by Will Dennis. It was first published by Comixology as a digital comic, and now the print edition is published by Dark Horse Comics.
