On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest, friend and sports media personality Joe Yerdon to discuss the Buffalo Sabres 2020-21 season, some of the player season-ending press conferences with the media on Monday and look into how he sees the offseason playing out on the heels of Jack Eichel's fiery presser.
Don Granato led the Sabres to a 9-16-3 record in his 28 games as interim head coach after taking over for a fired Ralph Krueger, including a 9-11-2 record following the team’s epic 18-game winless streak. Beyond the wins and losses many of the younger players looked considerably better under Granato, leading several fans and media including Joe to conclude Granato deserves legitimate consideration to become the permanent head coach. Joe discusses why.
However, that’s greatly overshadowed by Monday’s fiery Zoom pressers from several players, most notably Eichel who sounded like a franchise center incredibly open if not ready to become a former Sabres center soon. Joe has his thoughts on Eichel’s injuries this season and how the organization’s handling of them has put them in a lose-lose situation with an already frustrated fan base.
They also discuss non-committal comments from Sam Reinhart, Rasmus Ristolainen and plenty more.
