Joe's Disc Golf Podcast

This week the inaugural Champions Cup kicks off at the WR Jackson Memorial Disc Golf Course in Appling, GA. This is the legendary course that has hosted Worlds in 2017 and the Hall of Fame Classic in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Now it will play host to the newest PDGA Major, the Champions Cup. The course was originally designed by John Houck; portions of the course were redesign in 2018 by IDGC Manager Zach Shafer. At the time, many of the pros were upset that the course was redesigned by someone who wasn’t a course designer as reported by Ultiworld Disc Golf. In the end the changes proved to be an excellent addition to the course. And I go over my MPO and FPO predictions!

This week we talk about the breaking news that Heather Young is going to take a bit of a disc golf break. Joel Freeman is less than thrilled about one hole at MCO. Speaking of MCO we talk about the course a little too. And there is so much more too!

We learned this week that Innova isn't making tour discs for those player on the Star and Champion Teams. Paige Pierce also broke the news that the Disc Golf Pro Tour is looking into making baskets for the tour. Jeff Spring had to go into cleanup mode on that one. And I talk a little about the Music City Open.

Plenty to talk about in this episode. I go over the preview of the Texas States' course Thorn. I give you my predictions and and what happened in 2021. I go over why Hailey King isn't going to be there. Finally I spend a lot of time talking all about Eagle McMahon's shoulder injury. You have to watch at least that part.

We talked about so many things including a wrap-up of the wacky Waco round. There were so many fun things to watch this weekend that I highly recommend you watch the full live coverage on top of the post-production videos! I also talked about Kona Panis’s struggles continuing at Waco while Valerie Mandujano surges into the top of the field. Kristin Tattar has a great round but couldn’t exactly catch Mandujano. And, Eveliina Salonen falls of a cliff in the final round as her ice-cold putter went into a deeper freeze at Waco.

I go on a bit of a rant discussing the news that USDGC is going to be at Winthrop for the next 5 years. Plus, there were some less than stellar comments made towards the YouTube post-production crews.

Lot's to talk about in the episode including some twitter drama between Brodie Smith, Ella Hansen, and a few random professional twitter outrage specialists. Beyond that I talk about a rule change and clarification around the new mandatory rule. Thanks to everyone who listens to the show!

The first Disc Golf Pro Tour stop, the Las Vegas Challenge, has come to an end with a bang. So many exciting things to talk about on the Men's and Women's side of the tournament. My predictions for the women's side weren't off by much. The same can not be said about the men's side. This is something new I'm doing in 2022 so let me know what you think!

Today I go over my Las Vegas Challenge predictions (I know the tournament already started), the ups and downs of the DGPT Media Plan, and Matty-O's appendicitis. Big things are happening in disc golf media. Jomez is paying a fortune to cover the MPO lead card for the next two year. And because people on the internet are jerks, we talk about Natalie Ryan (who is following all the rules) and the unnecessary comments directed at her.

On this episode I go over the ups and downs of the DGPT All-Star Weekend. There is a lot to discuss there and that's not even talking about the Latitude 64 now being part owner of Kastaplast. So much happening this week just before the season officially starts.
