"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'" (John 8:12)

"Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink." (John 6:54–55)

In this passage we find the misery of mankind and the mercy of Jesus. Jesus heals the lame man, he heals on the Sabbath, and he heals as the Son of God. (Pastor Bringe also notes that he mispronounced the name of the pool: it is Bethesda, not Bethseda.)
