Jesus pushed it deep in his heart to go to a small unreached tribe of people on an island in the middle of nowhere to bring the gospel to them. He prepared for years. When he finally set foot on the shore in 2018 he was killed by that tribe. Was it all for nothing? Not a chance. Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs joins the team to share the riveting story of John Chau.
First, when news of John’s death hit the world, he was completely thrown under the bus. Then, a major criticism of John was that he was he was totally unprepared. Was he? Next, John had a plan A for his mission: “It will take years for me to plant the gospel here.” And a plan B: “I might be killed.”
Then, first contact with the tribe: A boy from the tribe shot an arrow at him and it stuck in his waterproof bible on Isaiah 65: “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’”
Next, that night John wrote in his journal, “Father forgive them if they kill me.” Then, November 16th, 2018: The day John’s body was planted as a seed on North Sentinel Island. Next, the growing movement of prayer for the Sentinelese tribe because of John’s sacrifice. Last, if God has put a kingdom dream in your heart, start preparing now!
