Episode 48 -  Dr Hanna Poikonen. WiseMotion and the expert’s brain. What the study of those that dance, play music and do math can tell us 

In today’s episode Andrew chats with Dr Hanna Poikonen 

Hanna originates from Finland and currently finds herself living Barcelona, after traversing the globe from Australia, to Costa Rica, to Singapore and Switzerland in pursuit of her studies into neuroscience, dance, biomedical engineering and art therapy.  

Hanna’s professional work with her company WiseMotion explores the connection between movement, art and science, how they overlap, and how one enhances the others. She facilitates workshops, retreats and events regularly in this space both online and in person.

In this conversation with Andrew, Hanna share some of her research on the expert brain, the connection between body movement and cognitive function, and the importance of rhythm in dance, sports and life. They round up the conversation with science and experience based attempt on creating the ideal learning environment.

Stephen is Neuromuscular therapist/ integrative bodyworker at Joint Dynamics. He shares his time with us and the globe. Along his way and after treating thousands of individuals, from elite athletes, politicians, corporate giants and those looking to recharge and move away from pain he has developed a healers intuition (and reputation). In this podcast he shares his philosophies on healing, his time as an Iron Man athlete living and working out of Boulder, Colorado training with and treating the world’s top IM athletes such as Dave Scott, Scott Molina, Mark Allen, Greg Welch, Ken Suza, Tim De Boom, Mike Pigg, Paula Newby Frazier and Wolfgang Dietrich.

This is a fascinating discussion from a therapist walking the path least travelled and his experience and wisdom gained along the way.

Episode 43 - Personal training for women’s health

In this episode of our Joint Dynamics Intelligent Movement podcast Andrew chats with super Mum and dedicated women’s health personal trainer, Ziggy Makant. 

Ziggy is one of our Women’s Health Personal Trainers at Joint Dynamics Evolve. She shares her experiences as a trainer to many pre & post natal women, plus that of her own journeys through pregnancy and what made her specialize in women’s health. As a mother of two boys, she speaks to us about why training during pregnancy and postpartum is so beneficial, both physically and mentally. 

We also touch on the benefits on informed birth and parenting.

Happy International Women's Day! Every day may be "Women's Day" at Evolve our Women's Health Clinic... But in honour of IWD 2022, the team are taking over today to discuss all things training for Women!

For the client we discuss what you should be receiving treatment wise from your physiotherapist or other clinician be it massage therapist, chiro, osteo, sports therapist etc. Regardless of what treatment you are receiving, demand to know the details of what the clinician is doing, why, how long it will take etc etc. This information will help you get the best from your rehab process and that is what you deserve.
