JOMAD

Our guest is the director of the Emerging Writers’ Festival, Lisa Dempster! We discuss: free food, Pigeons Projects, writing what you (don’t?) know, the importance of writers’ festivals, sexy John Marsden books, entering the safe zone with DH Lawrence, dreamy Tobias from Animorphs and the adventurous bike love trilogy.

This episode we chat to almost-Mexican writer Sam Rutter. We talk about Ibiza super clubs, Roberto Bolaño’s hard knocks (to the face), reading long books, writing Australian vernacular, the places we like to read, space Pocahontas and pre-ordering Tyra Banks’ Modelland in hardback.

Our very first podcast. Recorded rough and raw. We’re joined by former Voiceworks poetry editor, bookseller and editing student Jodie Kinnersley. We talk about the origins of the podcast, trashy books, karaoke high school reunions and how Jojo doesn’t know podcast etiquette.
