My guest today began his career in finance -- spending a year at Lehman Brothers Real Estate Group before moving onto become Vice President at Gramercy Capital. What seemed as a career most people would dream of, became the jumping off point into building a truly impressive business.
He is the cofounder of Convene, commercial real estate's first workplace-as-a-service platform. His unique experience and expertise in real estate acquisitions, development, and finance has helped propel Convene to become a pioneer in the industry.
He has been recognized for his business achievements in numerous categories and publications including Inc. Magazine's 30 Under 30. He's also been a finalist in Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 New York.

I was introduced to my guest today way back in 1998 or 1999. Just prior to that, in 1996, he had started a part-time mail order business out of his bedroom in Cleveland, Ohio -- this mail order business eventually became Microcosm Publishing an independent publisher and distributor.
During the past 20+ years, Microcosm has relocated to Portland, and grew significantly with countless ups and downs and changes in the way books are sold and consumed.
Then in his 30s, my guest was diagnosed with Autism. Through all of this he's learned a lot of what and what not to do, so he put it down in a book called Good Trouble: Building a Successful Life and Business with Asperger's.
In this conversation, we discuss what it means to grow up in punk rock, why you should plan forward, and understanding what the emotional payoff is for your customers.

My guest today is a friend of mine who is building an impressive business -- and he got started while he was still fully employed.
A few years ago we met at a conference. At the time, he was an Associate Director of Biz Dev at a technology company, and had recently started a podcast called Podcast Junkies out of a genuine interest in and curiosity of the medium and the hosts behind it.
As he gained experience and an audience in the podcasting market, he started a company called FullCast. What began as a podcast editing and service company, has now transformed into a full-service podcast setup, launching, and marketing service for professionals who want to amplify their authority through the power of podcasting.
In this conversation, we talk about the power of building a powerful network, using systems and processes to work yourself out of a job, and harnessing resilience to stay focused and moving forward.

At 22 years of age, due to pressure, uncertainty, and not knowing what else to do, my guest got a real job as a corporate civil engineer. It was during this time that he was introduced to the potential of selling on Amazon -- and in 2013 he made his first sale.
From there he kept working evening, nights, and weekends building his Amazon business. One year later, he had started selling almost three dozen products and he had replaced his corporate salary.
It was this business that lead him to create a simple Google Chrome extension to help Amazon sellers. This simple solution has now been developed into Jungle Scout, a full suite of tools for Amazon sellers. And what began as a small side-project has grown into a 60-person team with offices in Vancouver and Austin.

My guest today spent the first two years out of college in investment banking and four years in private equity.
During this time he launched called WallstreetOasis.com, a forum-based site for investment bankers and those who wanted to become investment bankers -- this was in 2006.
He spent the first few years running the site on the side, but in 2008 he went full-time into Wallstreet Oasis. Today, he has built a core team of 10 employees and they receive over 1,000,000 visitors every month.
In this conversation, we discuss monetization strategies, the loneliness of business, and the launch strategy behind a successful forum.

My guest is the co-founder and CEO of CoSchedule where he leads the amazing team that is building the worlds #1 marketing calendar.
CoSchedule began in 2013 as an idea on a flight between Atlanta and North Dakota. Less than a year an a half later, they had received $500k in seed funding and acquired their first 5,000 customers.
This growth seems staggering until you hear my guest talk about his 10x Marketing Formula and how he focuses on 10x not 10% projects.
10x Marketing Formula is also the name of his brand new book.

My guest today spent the early part of her career as a computer programmer working -- but she felt like she never quite fit into the corporate life.
In 2007, after stumbling across the idea of working as a virtual assistant, she decided to become a VA. After six months of working full-time and also running her VA business, she took the leap and quit her day job.
Then in 2014, she transitioned into digital marketing and launch consulting.
