2. A+ effort on Soto? – how is that a report? I would give them like a B-. You fell 65 million short. They were actually in, though. They committed. They are back in the pool. The issue is you have to now upgrade your team significantly by winning bidding wars and being uncomfortable.

3. How much should they invest this offseason? – Identify the guys who will help out your lineup. If you set values in free agency, you are going to finish third.

4. Who are the next targets? – priorities are starting pitching. Compete with other teams to get a big name. You have to do that. You need a starter. Alex Bregman is another target from what I hear. This is a real thing.

5. Is Bregman a good signing? – If you sign him, it is an automatic overpay. You get a guy in Bregman who is a good player.

Jerod Mayo did not answer the Greg Hill Show’s question about his job security. He deflected and turned the show’s focus to the Cardinals. Maybe this means Robert Kraft has not told him officially to return next season. There are other factors outside of the team’s record that make us think he may not be back next season. How close are the Patriots to having a John Mara situation?

Red Sox offseason discussion. The Sox are in on Bregman, allegedly. How much does this move the needle? It means Devers will have to shift to first base. Soto and Burnes are the best position players and pitchers on the market. Bregman is closer to Trevor Story than we think. Reunite him with Cora and maybe he will have a career renaissance.

The Mets have signed Juan Soto. What grade do you give the Red Sox effort? Keefe says F, but there is still a chance they have a solid offseason, but things are not looking good. The Sox have yet to outspend their competition. Teoscar Hernandez is the next target. Do Red Sox fans have the right to be pissed at John Henry right now after missing out on Soto?
