song
drove from calgary / all day yesterday / and fell into my old bed // woke up this morning and found / the same old sun ri- / sing in my backyard
i wait for my flight / and watch the blood-red / crown of the sun form above // the island of montreal / saint joseph’s crutches / cluttering my mind
the oratory / with all its crutches / is there on the horizon // a wall of clouds behind it / and the sun climbing / up that wall for me
dream as poem, poem as dream
early run to the / dilapidated / charming beaconsfield yacht club // i arrive in time to see / this trail of gold-leaf / breadcrumbs guiding me
i was awaiting / trial when the sun / rose above the reaching trees // and the clouds allowed the sky / to release my chains / and set the day free
