We all struggle through trials and hardships. The last 3 years have tested in new ways as we deal with the aftermath of collective trauma. God intends for you to be resilient in the face of difficulty but it begins by taking care of our souls, our inmost beings. The story of the sacrifice of Isaac is one of the most difficult in all of the Old Testament. In fact, it is symbolic of many of the ways that God is calling us out of our current culture to follow him. There is so much more to this story than we think at first glance.

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is a difficult one no matter how you look at it. Some of the questions we ask are: God is faithful even when we are unfaithful, right? Is God loving and gracious or angry and wrathful? What is going on with Lot’s daughters? Lot’s wife becoming a pillar of salt. What?!

Abraham was generous. Like others in his culture, hospitality was important to him.
