  • 012. Vienna Blum

Today I am speaking with Vienna Blum! Vienna and I actually met a few years back and I knew immediately she was someone who I wanted to bring onto this podcast for you to meet.

Vienna and I cover so many topics in this short discussion and I think that so far, this is the episode with the most practical tips and tricks. Vienna shares her own rollercoaster of a career story and how her ability to trust in the next thing and learn from each and every experience led her to where she is today, as a collaborative experience designer and facilitator and partner of her consultancy, Management Savvy.

In this episode, you'll hear Vienna and I talk about self trust, parenting children to reflect, traditional forms of leadership vs vulnerable leadership, creating spaces for failure and learning, and psychological safety within ourselves and with others.

A big thank you to Vienna for sharing her vast wisdom with us. If you liked this episode, please go hit subscribe and leave a few stars and a review!

  • 011. Ishta Devi

Another episode is here! Today, I am speaking with the incomparable Ishta Devi. Ishta's presence is a force of introspection, healing, and presence. Much of our conversation centres around trauma, how it manifests in individuals and in the collective, how generational trauma can affect us in the smallest and biggest ways, how cycles of trauma can lead us to repeating habits that no longer resonate with us, and the different stages of trauma processing.

Ishta and I really covered SO MANY TOPICS in this discussion, but it is truly because trauma touches so many different aspects of our lives, often times in ways we aren't even conscious of. A special thank you to Ishta for sharing so much of her time, soul, and story with us.

If you liked this episode, please go hit subscribe and leave a few stars and a review! Those few moments you take to do these things make a huge impact for this podcast.

  • 010. Asami Martens (she/her)

In this episode of Journey to Imperfection, I am so excited to bring you a conversation with Asami Martens (she/her) of Asami Yoga. As a child, Asami always had a desire to be liked by everyone, but when she moved from Japan to Canada with her family in 2003, that task became next to impossible as she didn’t speak any English. In this conversation, Asami shares the journey of how that younger self who had to carry around a dictionary in school just to speak finally found her voice through the lessons of heartbreak, unconditional love, and yoga.

Today, Asami is someone who loves to hold space for others, and she does this through her yoga teachings and retreats, but you will also really feel that throughout our conversation. Speaking with Asami was such a pleasure because her energy invites you in. As we were speaking, I knew in my depths that this was someone who could energetically hold others in a loving way.

  • 009. Defining Success & Failure

Um.. what? A solo episode? YES!
In this week's episode, I was inspired by a friend who was asking me for advice on starting her own podcast. In this episode, I give you the very same advice that I gave to her - start by defining WHY you want to do whatever it is you want to do. Once you have that, not only will you know your next steps, you'll also know what success and failure look like to YOU. This way, no matter what judgements you get from other people, you've satisfied your own why. This is what truly matters.

As always, you can follow me on instagram @maylentara.

  • 008. Sacha Bryce

Today I am speaking with Sacha Bryce and, in addition to just being straight up excited to share another amazing discussion with you, I am just so eager for you to revel in Sacha’s deeply soothing energy and presence.

In this discussion, Sacha tells her story of growing up Jehovah’s Witness and the unravelling of shame she had to go through as she began to come into herself. We talk about the 5 years Sacha spent travelling, following her inner knowing, and trusting that there was more for her.

This is a deep and loving discussion about what it is to embody your Self, untangle your shame, embrace your femininity, and love all the bits of you that are different.

If you would like to learn more about EFT or Sacha, you can follow her on instagram @sachabryceyoga. Sacha has a ton of tapping videos on her instagram and also has a wonderful Facebook group where she goes live each week for live tapping sessions.

As well, I noticed that a few times in the episode we refer to a discussion we had in the past, this is an instagram live that you can find in my IGTV archives on my instagram @maylentara.

As usual, there is some swearing in this episode so earmuffs for the little ones!

  • 007. Chanel Coulombe

In today’s episode I am sharing a deep, loving discussion with Chanel Coulombe. Chanel is one of those people who was told her whole life that she was strong. Growing up with abuse in her home, there was really no other option. But at the start of 2020, Chanel was diagnosed with cancer and the armour she had built up to protect herself began to crumble around her. Chanel’s story is truly inspiring and exemplifies a lesson that is difficult for so many of us to learn - that there is strength in our vulnerability.

Speaking with Chanel was truly a gift. The way she speaks about her experiences and her openness is truly inspiring and I was so grateful that she chose to share this story with us.

As usual, there is some swearing in this episode so earmuffs for the little ones!

  • 006. Hannah Kellett

My dears, we are here again for another amazing discussion. This week I am chatting with Hannah Kellett. Hannah shares her own story about how she went on sick leave from work for her mental health and how that resulted in her leaving her very impressive career. The very same day she signed the papers terminating herself from the corporate world, Hannah hopped on a plane to Mexico where she began to connect to something so much deeper.

Hannah shares her story with so much clarity and self awareness - it was truly a pleasure to speak with her and listen to how she looks back and understands this time in her life that, for many, could have broken them. But not Hannah. She trusted at each and every step and is all the better for it.

Note that there is some swearing in this episode so earmuffs for the little ones!

This week I am speaking with someone very near and dear to my heart and that is Shari Reinhart. Shari is an amazing woman who has been doing THE work for the past 25 years and who has also created the space for so many others to lovingly and gently go through their own journey back to themselves. Shari also happens to be my cousin, which is why this is such a meaningful conversation for me and we discuss a lot about what it is to be a Woman in both our generations.

In this episode, we explore generational differences along the journey of Becoming. We dive deep into the struggles and pressure to please others and the experience of breaking free from our upbringing.

  • 004. Leisse Wilcox

This discussion is soooo soulful y’all. Leisse is someone who has been through a lot of her own trials and tribulations in life from divorce to being a single mom of 3 to then being diagnosed with breast cancer. Seriously, the wisdom that this woman has simply from walking through life unwilling to give up and be anyone but herself is freaking astounding and so very admirable. I literally sighed and took deep breaths after everything she said because her words and her energy just needed to be digested.

With Leisse, we talk about self love, self trust, finding joy even in those moments when you don’t check off all of society’s boxes and allowing yourself to FEEL THOSE FEELS without judging yourself and without trying to change them.

If you have feedback about this episode or would like to follow along, please feel free to follow me on the instagram @maylentara

  • 003. Calli aka. Mrs. Makaveli

Today’s discussion is with the amazing Calli aka. Mrs. Makaveli. This is a high energy discussion with so many practical pieces of advice trickled throughout. What I love about Calli’s journey is that there wasn’t one moment where things locked into place and she found her passion. It is a story of learning from each experience and trusting that her knowings are leading her to the right place.

Closer to the end of our discussion, Calli shares her experience with burnout and anxiety. We both share stories about our own experiences with anxiety and Calli shares so much wisdom about how she reframed and befriended her own anxiety.
