The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has said that the Minority will insist on a clause-by-clause vote on the anti-gay bill which is currently before the House. Addressing a press conference in Accra on Friday October 15, he said, there is need to ensure that this bill reflects the will and aspirations of the people.

Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has said that it is out of place for the Speaker, Alban Bagbin, to have made a predetermination concerning the “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values 2021” bill. According to him, the Speaker is technically not a Parliamentarian and thus cannot make such a commitment on behalf of Parliament.

A group calling itself concerned assembly members in the Cape Coast metropolitan assembly has returned money given to them by the president’s nominee for the Cape Coast metropolitan Assembly, Ernest Arthur. The group numbering over 20 says, they can no longer keep the money the president’s nominee ‘gifted’ them prior to the voting process because they want to protect their integrity and maintain their firm stance at protecting the progress of Cape Coast.

About 15,000 Ghanaians have signed a memorandum to Parliament for the passage of the Proper Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill (Anti-LGBTQI+ bill).
