This week Pete has a conversation with his wife about their next car. She wants to replace her nine year old subaru outback with... a new subaru outback. Rob will not stand for this injustice. Last and almost certainly not least, Porsche is going to do everything they can to save the internal combustion engine.  They are developing a synthetic gasoline that will work in every car and burns just as clean as EV engines do. This week Pete took a shot at the auction we covered in last week’s episode. It was a rollercoaster ride for five hours before he was outbid. How high would you have bid on the LS swapped Z3M? After that we dig into Porsche’s latest reveal. The all new 2022 911 GT3.  Boasting an insane 17 seconds faster time around the Nürburgring than the outgoing GT3. After a few months of being away Pete and Rob are back in the saddle talking cars.  With the chaos of the holidays it took some time to figure out our separate remote set ups.  Now we’re back and better than ever.  Or at least as good as we used to be.  We’ve missed you all and this show so much!  This week we’re talking Lotus.  They’re wiping the slate clean and out with the old ( very old in the case of the elise ) and in with the new.  We have no idea what the “new” is but it’s coming and apparently to show rooms by the end of the year.  GM over the last week made an announcement that has Rob torn up.  Promising in fourteen years to be all electric.  Rob was hoping= to be dead in the ground before the V8 Corvette was.  What are your thoughts on the switch to full EVs?  Kia’s stock jumps because Apple dropped some serious cash to get into the car making business.  Expanding their ecosystem out of your house and on the road.  After that we go over Tesla’s recall.  Elon’s snark seems to be rubbing off on the PR employees.

This week Pete get's behind the wheel of Rob's bmw M roadster.  We didn't record his drive for two reasons.  First, Pete was giggling so much that the audio would have been useless.  Second, Rob sent our lavalier mics back because their quality was less than desired.  Pretty sure you can tell how excited Pete was in the post drive recording of this episode.  Then we dive straight into the new Hummer.  The power numbers were impressive.  The range is pretty good.  However, does turning the Hummer into an EV platform miss the mark on what it was intended to do?  Does this make the new Hummer a bummer?  

It finally happened.  The stars aligned and Rob got a new car.  Well, new to him anyway. Out of completely no where.  First, Rob recounts his abysmal car history and then we get into how that story has come to a close.  

This week on Joyride we have our friend Adam Hines back from Highbank Co. He recently added to his fleet. Got burned by a total rust bucket but was able to flip that into a wonderful sports car from Japan. Rob goes for a spin in Adam’s second generation Mazda Miata. Adam got it for an absolute bargain and what a beauty this car is. Two seats, plenty of power, manual transmission, and a perfect day to go for a drive with the top down. He’s done a handful of things and has plans for many more. We also tease out Rob’s new ride. Check out next week to see if it arrives in one piece.

This week on Joyride something a little different.  Pete finally gets the BMW 323 Ci squared away and we go on our first Joyride.  As a show anyway.  We go over the ups and downs of Pete's new ride.  Which is his old ride.  Few microphone issues.  Few shifting issues.  All in good fun.
