  • Graham Webb: Keys to a thriving church

Guest speaker Graham Webb of Jubilee Church Liverpool on some of the keys to a thriving church.

Graham goes into how we need to recognise that God is doing something, wait for Him to open a door and make the most of every opportunity.

He also talks about the importance of being slow to speak, quick to listen and the risks of being over-zealous in trying to bring others to Christ.

  • Dave Frodsham – Why did Jesus come?

Dave Frodsham of Jubilee Church Wirral on why Jesus came to earth more than 2000 years ago.

Looking at how Jesus “came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10 and, “not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28), Dave goes into how we are challenged to do the same. We may not be able to save people directly – but we can save them by bringing them to Jesus.

  • Rick Robertson – Restoration

Rick on how, in Ezekiel 36: 22-36, Israel was destroyed but God promised to restore it.

Rick looks into God’s “I will”s, what His restoration of Israel means for us today, and how the Old Testament contains “future echoes” about Jesus being the saviour of the world.

Questions to consider when listening to the message:

    1. Why did Israel need restoration?
    2. How does the world need restoration?
    3. How has Jesus bought us restoration?

Dave Frodsham: Good order builds up the church

Dave continues our series on 1 Corinthians, Identity Confirmed through the lens of the Gospel, looking at 1 Corinthians 14:13-40.

Dave addresses the thorny issue of speaking in tongues and what Paul, in his letter to the Corinthians, had to say on the matter.

Dave looks at why we meet as a church, and why it’s not what we say but what people hear that is important.

    7. Rob Coleman – Pursuing God and His manifest presence

Rob Coleman of our sister church, Grace Church Bolton, on how if God is who we say He is, there is so much more to discover.

What does it mean that He’s everywhere? If we are struggling to hear from Him, does that mean that He doesn’t want us to find Him?

Rob uses examples from the Bible to illustrate how God does want us to find Him, does love us and does want us to know Him.

    8. Vernon Martin: The Wrath of God

Vernon on appreciating the good news of God by remembering His wrath.

We preach the good news of God but forget the wrath aspect. There’s a war raging in the spiritual realm  – the earthly, sinful people against the Lord and we want to be like God.

God is righteous and has righteous indignation against sin. The righteousness of God can’t be in the same space as the sinfulness of man.

      What is our response?
