We all hate pride in others, but fail to see it in ourselves. It is the original sin, and it is the cause of all strife and contention. It ruins everything. But we refuse to kill it in ourselves, and even count it as some kind of virtue. It even ruins the effect of the Word of God and the message of the Gospel. The Bible clearly teaches us to judge and discern between good and evil, and especially when it comes to people, because of the danger that evil people pose. But when our pride is involved it turns our testimony into a stumbling block and does more harm to the kingdom of God than good. No one has any right to be proud of the fact that they are saved, or of the church or creed they identify with. Pride is sin, no matter what form it manifests itself in.
