Bret Weinstein joins Julian to open the conversation with 9/11 and Julian's own first memory of it, before moving into what Bret calls the slow boiling frog of society, a warning about how gradual, easy-to-miss shifts can add up to something much bigger. Bret talks about his background studying complexity science and how that framework led him to make an early, controversial prediction about how COVID would unfold, long before most people were paying attention.
From there, the conversation turns to the investigation into who killed Charlie Kirk. Bret is direct about his skepticism of the official account, telling Julian plainly that "Tyler Robinson acting alone doesn't satisfy me," and laying out the specific reasons the story doesn't add up for him. He and Julian also revisit advice Charlie once gave around mRNA, and discuss it alongside questions about Israeli leadership.
The episode closes with Bret and Julian talking about corruption more broadly, the idea of a uniparty operating above the usual left-right divide, and why, despite everything, Bret has ended up backing Trump.

Nick continues walking Julian through the Franklin Scandal, and this segment goes to some of the darkest and least-covered corners of the case. He lays out who Lawrence King and Craig Spence were, and why Spence, a well-connected DC lobbyist, has long been suspected of being a CIA asset, a claim that only deepens the questions around how he died. From there, Nick tells the story of Alisha Owens, one of the case's central witnesses, and the deeply troubling outcome where she ended up indicted rather than the people she accused.
The conversation then moves to Boystown in Omaha and the alleged CIA connection to what was happening there, a thread Nick has spent years trying to piece together. He details a confession from a figure known as Ru that Nick says helped unravel part of the cover-up, and connects it directly to the fall of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, whose own history of abuse took decades to catch up with him. Nick closes the segment with the Confessions of a DC Madam, tying the Beltway prostitution scandal back into the same web of names and power that's run through the entire conversation.
This is dense, difficult material, real court records, real names, and a pattern Nick argues has been documented for decades but rarely connected out loud. Listen with that in mind.
Topics covered: Nick's Black Book & the Franklin Scandal & Lawrence King, Craig Spence & the CIA Asset & Alisha Owens: The Victim Who Got Indicted & Boystown, Omaha & the CIA Connection & Ru's Confession, Dennis Hastert's Fall & Confessions of a DC Madam

Mariana Van Zeller — Emmy Peabody and DuPont Award-winning investigative journalist and host of National Geographic's Trafficked — continues the most comprehensive black market journalism conversation this podcast has produced. This segment covers Portugal's drug decriminalization model and why it worked there but failed in Portland Oregon, the Florida pain clinic epidemic and why 90 of the top 100 OxyContin prescribers in the country were operating in a single state, the American Pain documentary and the DEA takedown of the George Brothers, the Insys Pharma whistleblower story and the Sackler family accountability failure, cartel presence in small town Georgia and why rural America is where CJNG operates most effectively, the predator hunting groups on YouTube and the context that mainstream coverage consistently strips out, and the CJNG scam empire that Van Zeller is now documenting for her new Nat Geo series Super Scam Me.
The Portugal decriminalization and Florida pain clinics thread is the episode's most policy-specific and most institutionally revealing contribution. Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001 and produced documented reductions in drug-related deaths HIV infections and incarceration — the specific policy mechanisms that made it work and why those mechanisms have failed to translate to American cities like Portland are examined by Van Zeller who has covered drug policy from the inside of the systems that produce it. The Florida pain clinic story is the most alarming single data point in the entire American opioid narrative — 90 of the top 100 OxyContin prescribers in the country operating out of a single state, 300 to 400 pills per month to individual patients, doctor shopping across multiple providers, and a mother who lost both sons to overdoses sitting across from Van Zeller and explaining what the system actually looked like from the family's perspective.
The American Pain and Sacklers thread is the episode's most institutionally damning and most personally significant contribution. The George Brothers — Justin and Chris George — ran American Pain the largest OxyContin clinic in the United States from a strip mall in Fort Lauderdale. The DEA and FBI investigation that brought them down involved a car chase surveillance and the specific institutional determination to pursue a case that the two-tiered justice system had been designed to prevent. The Insys Pharma whistleblower story is the most alarming corporate crime account in the entire opioid narrative — the whistleblower's specific job was to lie to insurance companies claiming every patient they were submitting had cancer. The only pharma executive to ever do time. And the Sacklers who bear more responsibility for more deaths than any of the above are still doing well.
The cartel in small town Georgia thread is the episode's most geographically alarming and most personally significant contribution. CJNG does not operate primarily in border cities or major metropolitan areas. Small town America is where they operate most effectively — where local law enforcement has the fewest resources the most limited experience with cartel operations and the most vulnerable populations. Van Zeller documents a horrific crime in Georgia captured entirely on AirBnB property cameras and examines the specific bureaucratic corruption that allows cartel infrastructure to establish itself in communities that have no framework for recognizing or responding to it.
**Inside This Clip:**
- Portugal's decriminalization model — why it worked there and why it failed in Portland Oregon
- 90 of the top 100 OxyContin prescribers were in Florida — the pain clinic epidemic examined
- American Pain the George Brothers and the DEA and FBI investigation that brought them down
- The Insys Pharma whistleblower whose job was to lie to insurance companies about cancer diagnoses
- The only pharma executive to ever do time — and the Sacklers who are still doing well

- Why rural America is where CJNG operates most effectively and with the least resistance

James Fox has spent years documenting the UFO phenomenon, from his film "The Phenomenon" to his newer project "The Program," including his ongoing investigation in D.C. He opens up about a disastrous film company lawsuit that nearly derailed his career, and why, despite devastating setbacks along the way, he considers this his most satisfying documentary work yet.
The conversation goes deep into pivotal moments from his interviews, the difference between disclosure and actual evidence, and James reads directly from a congressional source document, walking through photographs and evidence tied to it. He and Julian discuss specific intelligence agency individuals and what James describes as active obfuscation, along with the evidence behind the Jason Sands encounter. The episode closes with a genuinely strange topic — what James calls telepathic communication residue — while Julian plays devil's advocate throughout and raises the possibility that James himself may have been lied to.

Twenty-five years after September 11th, Matt Bocchi shares his story of that day — the loss of his father, the horror of what happened at the World Trade Center, and the moment his family finally learned his father had been identified. He talks about what it's like to have grown up with only fragments of memory of his dad, and the emotional experience of meeting the medical examiner who worked on the identification, years later, at the 9/11 Memorial.
David also shares his own account of that day and how he and his family have talked about it — and continued to process it — in the twenty-five years since. Even now, some parts of what happened remain unresolved for the families still living with it.
This is a quiet, honest conversation about grief, memory, and what it means to carry a loss like this for a quarter century.

Julian runs through one of the densest news segments in a while, starting with the competing narratives around why Trump and Epstein actually stopped hanging out, and how the media has covered Trump differently in his second administration. He breaks down House Speaker Mike Johnson's attack on Thomas Massie, Massie's response after Johnson cancelled Congress until the midterms, and what Julian calls genuinely insane gaslighting coming out of the administration as it makes its case to voters. He also digs into how controlled mass media actually works and how outlets psychologically frame headlines to shape perception.
From there, Julian covers the Trump Butler assassin FBI report story that he says got swept under the rug, and explains why the Trump assassination attempt clearly smells wrong to him. The episode takes a surprising turn when Julian reveals that Stanley Kubrick's daughter reached out to him directly over his Eyes Wide Shut theory, and he shares the details of her messages, including Vivian Kubrick denying the infamous Kubrick-studio executives meeting ever happened and her thoughts on how Hollywood narratives get created.
Julian closes with a run of current stories: the Ed Sheeran, Bob Kraft, and Macklemore fiasco, Robert Kraft's strange cyber center, the New York Post's favorable coverage of Kraft, where Ed Sheeran goes from here, the return of a 2028 presidential frontrunner to Washington, Mitch McConnell being back, and a wider reflection on how the oldest and most established players keep running things into the ground.

Jordan Belfort's ex-wife sits down for a raw, detailed conversation about life during and after the Wolf of Wall Street era. She walks through the $10 million bail set for Jordan, her time at a mental health clinic working through trauma, and the divorce that followed. From there she talks about meeting her current husband, why he was different because he actually listened to her, and her move to California.
She covers earning her PhD and doctorate, what it was like to become a character in a major Hollywood film, and starting her own social media presence to share her story on her own terms. She and Julian go through what the movie got accurate versus what it got wrong, including insight from a Sopranos writer, before shifting into a deeper conversation about her relationship with Jordan today and her own psychoanalysis of him — including traits she associates with the dark tetrad and Machiavellianism.
