There’s a hidden idealogical-battle playing out on the internet. And the winner of this battle might determine what the future looks like for you…
We’re not talking Trump vs Harris or China and Taiwan. But much like those, each side has a claim that they’re ready to give their life for. Which is the truth..?
In todays episode Joey breaks down the Eastern and Western strength philosophy, and where they prevail within our fitness culture. He then takes us to the heart of a dilemma, the belly of the beast if you will, and explains how the prevailing western-philosophy has the potential to leave us on the wrong side of history

‘War Yoga’, a system of physical conditioning used by the Persian Empire to turn young men into formidable warriors…
Our guest Kashi teaches us about the origins of the term Yoga and how it diverted into two very different paths throughout India and Persia. He introduces us to what is know as the Temple Of Strength, simple buildings where men of all ages devote themselves to building strength, and how this culminates in the warrior spirit known as Pahlavani.
One of the most gangster stories we’ve ever featured on the show.
Enjoy.
Why Rewind?
Our podcast has been a round a while now and we realised there were a lot of epic discussions which newer listeners have never heard. This is how we shine a light on these great episodes and present them for you. For those who have heard this episode, it deserves a round two. At the least.

We struggled finding great coaches for the longest time…
We’d get great people in, but soon realise they didn’t have that ‘thing’ they needed to have
It was hard for us to even define what that ‘thing’ was…
This was until we changed our approach entirely –
In this episode Pauly and I break down the simple system we now use to identify and train awesome coaches. Many years of mistakes, trial and error brought us to this point.
If you’re in the game and looking to fill your spot with amazing leaders, we got you.
Enjoy

If there’s one thing Big Fitness does well, it’s make well-intentioned gym goers do waaay too much conditioning work
Intervals, high-intensity work, metcons – it’s great stuff. You need on your plate…
But like all good things, having too much causes problems:
In this episode Pauly and I break down where it fits in the overall scheme of your training week and how often you need to redline.

Running epic events is something we take seriously…
The agreement has always been – if we’re hosting an event, it has to be a banger.
But like most things we did in our early years, we went in blind. And while we usually delivered on creating the memorable experience for folks, it always cost us huge amounts of time and energy.
Thankfully these days we’re a little better prepared. And in this episode we layout the exact system we use to run epic events in our gyms, including:

Dr. Michael Salter is an internationally renowned Criminologist at the University of NSW. He’s an expert in child sexual exploitation, complex trauma and gendered violence. The prevalence of male violence against women has reached a tipping point in Australia recently, and Michael has been one of the key voices in the national discussion.
We were extremely fortunate to have Michael on the show. He does an incredible job of explaining the mechanisms behind gender violence and some of the practical solutions available.
Pauly and I learned a lot in this one, and we hope you do too. Please share this episode with those around you.

Violence against women is at an all time high in this country. The number of women being killed by men has increased sharply this year. As fathers of young children, it’s very hard to make sense of. You can’t help but think of what you can do to effect a better outcome
Pauly and I get into it and attempt to unpack our feelings on the matter. Sharing discussions like this isn’t so easy for us, as it’s clearly not a field we’re qualified to talk on. But our view is that should be no reason NOT to share it. Hopefully this helps some other people to open up the conversation and look deeper.
Note – we do have an expert on this matter joining us for next weeks episode. Please make sure to catch that
