  • Episode 121 - Educate Yourself
There are many ways to educate yourself, and limitless topics, but in this case, we keep it to sports. We start off with a review of the not-as-stellar-as-hoped World Series, won by the team with the highest payroll in baseball. How come this battle didn't live up to expectations?
The Whitecaps season is now officially over, and the dark cloud over the franchise got a lot gloomier. What is next for this team after losing their best player, and having the captain openly request to be traded? How can a team in such disarray attract a new coach and new talent?
The BC Lions laid a stinker in Regina and will crossover to the East for the playoffs. Will the team show up for the final home game for coach Wally Buono, or save themselves for Hamilton? The Seahawks played their best game of the season in Detroit, improving to 4-3. Are they ahead of expectations, or was the bar set too low for the team? Can they continue making strides and compete for a playoff spot?
The Canucks continue their solid start to the season, and with the return of Petey, where is this ride going to take us? Is he the number one centre? Is it fair to start heaping expectations onto some players and where the team is in the standings? What sort of toll will the injury bug take, and will anyone step up and fill the void? All this plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!

  • Episode 120 - Let's Be Real Here
You know why we are the premier sports podcast? Because we are real, and this show is no different. The World Series is upon us, featuring a pair sure to make MLB happy with Boston and Los Angeles. We look at how these two teams matchup, and make our predictions - one of us has to be right... right?
How about those BC Lions? Left for dead at the halfway point of the season, they clinched a playoff spot with a huge win over Edmonton. What has spawned the resurgence? Will they fare better if they are the crossover team? Should there even be a crossover team?
The Canucks are starting to face some challenges in this young season, as the injury bug strikes again. Is the team worth watching if players like Petey aren't playing? Would you rather watch the Utica Comets? We discuss the notion of moving the team closer to Vancouver, and if the Comets are being properly run. What do you expect from a minor league team? All this and some more real moments, plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!

  • Episode 119 - Do It For Petey
It was a heck of week around here with all the baseball and football and hockey, so we get right into it. The AL and NL championship series are underway, and both have been underwhelming yet delivered memorable moments. Is there an underdog in either of these?
There was craziness in football, as the BC Lions won in Calgary (what?!) on the strength of another dominant defensive performance. Is this team for real, and can they carry this momentum? The Seahawks won and looked good doing it, but can they keep pace with the division leaders? And how about that Chiefs-Patriots game? AFC Championship preview?
We discuss the Canucks epic road trip, where the story isn't a three game win streak or a possible goalie controversy, but a questionable hit on young star Elias Pettersson and the reaction (or lack thereof). Did the NHL handle it right? Should the Canucks employ a tough guy to respond to this? All this plus our best and worst in Garbage Time, and we say goodbye to a Pacific Northwest icon.

  • Episode 118 - It's Three Games
Is it three games in the baseball playoffs, or the first three games of the Canucks season? Maybe it's both! October means the boys of summer embrace the fall, and classic moments ensue. We discuss the MLB Divisional Series, and look ahead to the AL and NL Championships. Lots of football going on too, as the Seahawks hung tough with the Rams. Did Seattle turn a corner in that game? Can they make a run to the playoffs? The BC Lions are trying to, after a needed win over Toronto, but it was not without controversy. Jennings or Lulay? Now or next season?
Of course we talk about the Canucks, who kicked off their season in style, followed by a dose of reality. We review the opening night win, along with the in-game entertainment, plus the first road trip. Is Elias Pettersson the real deal? Is there reason to be concerned about Brock Boeser? What's up with all the goals? We have all the answers and more, plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!

  • Episode 117 - Canucks 2018-2019 Preview

  • Episode 116 - Strip Club Mood Lighting
Does anyone know if there are strip clubs in Salt Lake City? Asking for a friend...
It was a busy week in sports, and we start with Tiger Woods winning again. Is this a true resurgence of an all-time great, or just a classic story of redemption? What is it about Tiger that makes golf more exciting?
Football is in full swing, and the Browns won. You read that right. The Cleveland Browns won. Perhaps more surprising is the Buffalo Bills won too. Yeah, the Bills and Browns both won. We review the Seahawks winning their first game, but was it overshadowed by a certain safety? How is this going to end in Seattle? We also talk about the craziness that was the BC Lions win over Hamilton. Has Jonathan Jennings turned a corner?
The hammer finally dropped on Carl Robinson with the Whitecaps. What is the direction of the franchise? Is a new coach going to fix anything? NHL pre-season is drawing near its conclusion, and we discuss what the Canucks have showed us so far. Reason to panic, or totally expected? All this and more, plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!

  • Episode 115 - The Real Deal?
Are we the real deal? Damn straight. Is Elias Pettersson the real deal? Maybe, but ask yourself this first: Since 1988, without looking, can you name the players the Canucks have drafted that provided top line offensive production in Vancouver? (hint - there's only 6, and Brock Boeser doesn't count yet)
We look at the start of the Canucks pre-season, and what the first game showed us. Should expectations be high? What players may already be on the hot seat? What are the burning questions to be answered over the next two weeks?
We also talk football! Week 2 of the NFL season is in the books, and the Seahawks are 0-2. What happened to their offence? Will the 13th man make a difference in their home opener, or is this just a below average team? We check out the other happenings around the league, including a mid-game retirement, unemployed kickers, and the Patriots attempt to rebuild another top notch receiver.
The BC Lions mix in as well, with their win in Montreal, but it came at a cost, as Travis Lulay once again goes down injured against the Alouettes. Should he just avoid playing them? Can Jonathan Jennings get the offence to produce, or is the defence going to carry the Leos to the post-season? All this plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!

  • Episode 114 - Sex, Sports, and Politics
It might not be sex, drugs, and rock n' roll, but close enough. We start with the elephant in the room by wading into the debate surrounding Serena Williams - is this an issue of sexism and racism, or simply a player penalized for breaking the rules? Everyone else chimed in, so what are your thoughts?
Week 1 of the NFL kicked off, and we review the Seahawks performance in Denver. Were they just first game mental mistakes, or a sign of things to come this season? We look at the other games around the league, including some reason surprises and some real duds. We also discuss the BC Lions and if they can build any momentum off their win over Ottawa. They control their destiny - can they step up?
NHL training camps are launching, and we talk about how the Canucks young stars did at their annual tournament. Reason to be excited, or tempered expectations? A lot happened around the league over the past week, including something that may not be as shocking as it seems. All this plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!

  • Episode 113 - Sports Is A Cruel Mistress
Is sports a cruel mistress, or are we just being poetic and dramatic? September starts with a review of Geoff's weekend experience with the Indycar Portland Grand Prix, including whether or not he made the race broadcast. We talk a little bit of Whitecaps, a little bit of Mariners, and a little bit of US Open tennis.
The main event is the start of the 2018 NFL season! We break down what the year may bring for the Seahawks, as well as their competition in the NFC West. We make our way too early SuperBowl picks, and for fun, our last place picks. Are they locks, or are we totally unreliable? All this plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!
    1 hr 14 min
  • Episode 112 - Psych, Psyche, and Semantics
Psych or psyche? Segue or hook? Robert Drummond or Glenroy Gilbert? We answer the tough questions this week by making fun of ourselves.
Geoff finally caves from his positive views on the BC Lions and rips them a new one. What drove him over the edge? Brendan reviews the Seahawks preseason after they lost their third game. Does he think they can be competitive this season? Speaking of Seattle teams, we break down what the stretch drive may hold for the Mariners. Can they stay in the race, or is it time to trade assets and rebuild? And what's up with the Whitecaps?
The big story of the week is Brooke Henderson winning the Canadian Open in Regina, cementing her legacy in Canadian golf. Couple this with the early success of tennis players at the US Open, and it's a golden age for athletes carrying the maple leaf. What are the pressures facing them from the Canadian media and public? How do they really rank in the grand scheme of global sports? Are there different expectations for summer and winter sport athletes? As mentioned, we answer the tough questions. All this plus our best and worst in Garbage Time!
