Did you know that post-birth is the most crucial time to introduce acupuncture and acupressure to your body? Pretty paradoxical being that it is also the HARDEST time to leave your home to go get acupuncture.
Jen helps unpack the importance of acupuncture during this time and how to integrate it into your life post birth in a practical way.

There is a saying: "When a baby is born, a mother is born too."
Both Jen and I have found this saying to hold true - on many levels. This episode dives into our personal experiences around identity shifts after birth and the ripples those had in our own lives. We give some fun metaphors as well that hopefully can resonate with some of the mamas listening and/or give a better understanding to those awaiting birth and beyond.

We've got a very special (and amazing rockstar mama) guest today, Sarah. She shares her unique and emotional journey into motherhood starting with the NICU and later navigating pediatric cancer with her baby.
Her story is an inspiration as she shares how she found the strength to face her fears, opens up about the ways she and her husband grew stronger as a couple during this challenging time and offers insights into how little acts of kindness and support carried them through the toughest moments.
Sarah’s hope is to uplift other parents going through similar experiences by sharing her story of resilience and love as well as to give insight to others how they can best support mamas and families in similar positions.

Today is the first episode of a little 'series' of episodes around acupressure and acupuncture that we will be rolling out over the next few months. For those of you that do not know, Jen (our lovely co-host on the pod) is not only a midwife but also an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. She is a wealth of wisdom in this area and we wanted to share some of this with the listeners.
Today we dive into the basics around acupressure and acupuncture as well as focus on the pregnancy stage and all the benefits and specifics around this part of the journey. In the future we will dive into fertility, postpartum and using these tools on newborns as well.
Let us know your feedback and questions. We could really dive deeper in a lot of these areas so if it's something that interests give a shout out to let us know.
Some of the topics we explore in this episode include:
why acupuncture/acupressure during pregnancy (even if it’s a healthy smooth pregnancy)
how it can help with breech positioning
how it can help with labor
how pregnancy acupuncture/acupressure can set you up for an easier birth and postpartum
acupressure vs acupuncture - is it as effective, the difference between the two
