“Resilience: Rising Beyond the Storm”
There are moments in life that change us forever. For me, one of those moments happened in 2002 — I was attacked at gunpoint outside my apartment. I fought back that night, but the real battle wasn’t just physical… it was emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal.
In the months and years that followed, I had to learn how to feel safe again in my own body… how to breathe through the waves of fear that came without warning, and how to reclaim my sense of power after it felt like it had been taken from me.
Resilience, I’ve learned, isn’t just about surviving one event — it’s about showing up for yourself day after day. Even when the memories resurface. Even when anxiety whispers its doubts.
It’s the quiet strength that says: I may have been broken open, but I am not broken. It’s the courage to keep moving forward — even when the path isn’t clear. It’s the grace to allow healing to unfold, layer by layer, without judgment.
I made a choice — to be a survivor, not a victim. To turn that pain into purpose. To become the hero in my own story.
And that’s what I want to share with you today — the reminder that resilience lives within you too.
No matter what storm you’ve walked through, there is always a calm on the other side. Sometimes, resilience doesn’t look like strength — it looks like rest, tears, or taking one small step. But each step counts.
If you’re watching this and you’ve faced your own storm — know this: You are stronger than you realize. You are healing, even when it doesn’t feel like it. And you are never alone.
Let this be your reminder… Resilience isn’t about never falling — it’s about always rising.
